Chapter 40 Promoting Think Tanks
Chapter 40 Promoting Think Tanks
"Li Wei, do you really believe in gods? Do they really exist, like those mythical beings?"
Magnus stood up, walked to the huge porthole, and gazed at the still-smoke-filled Satellite 3.
He had been preoccupied with the mysterious blue wrist ever since he saw it there a few days ago.
"This..." Li Wei paused for a moment, "Gods exist, and so do demons."
"Demons? They're nothing more than absurd stories fabricated by charlatans."
Magnus scoffed, "You must be mistaken! Some warp predators are indeed very evil and cruel, but that's just their nature."
In Magnus's vision, which was completely disguised by Tzeentch, every creature he saw in the warp appeared to be a kind and friendly being.
The most ruthless warp creatures are none other than those warp predators whose nature is inherently brutal.
Seeing that Magnus remained skeptical, Levi released a pink freak from Tzeentch's minions from the system space.
He hadn't sold off all the demons beforehand; instead, he kept a few as samples for research.
That strange, pink figure suddenly appeared in the combat center of the USS Fortep, in front of Magnus, within the cage of the laws of the real universe.
This was a demon who wasn't considered high-ranking under Tzeentch's command. Upon seeing Li Wei, it immediately trembled and prostrated itself on the ground in submission.
Its low intelligence told it that the human in front of it was its new master, a being capable of suppressing its brutal and bloodthirsty former master.
In its eyes, Li Wei was a great demon-level being, and it could only maintain absolute awe towards such a terrifying being; this was its way of survival.
But the next second, it could no longer bear the pressure of the rules of the real universe and roared. It felt like a fish out of water, no longer able to get the nourishment of subspace energy, and was about to suffocate and die.
It roared and convulsed, its body emitting pale pink smoke, before finally turning into a puddle of viscous pink mucus.
It never dared to beg for mercy from its new master until its death.
Li Wei watched the demon die with icy eyes. He knew why the demon had died: it had come to the real universe.
Even Tzeentch couldn't resist the suppression of the laws of the real universe, let alone the demons under his command.
"This..." Magnus's pupils contracted sharply, having watched the strange warp creature die the entire time.
He was one of the most powerful psionicists in the human empire.
He had been roaming the warp alone for decades, yet he had never encountered such a warp creature before; its aura was eerie and extremely ominous.
Moreover, the psionic aura emanating from this creature, which had already turned into a pool of pink slime, was essentially the same as the aura on the blue wrist we had seen before.
It can even be understood that this "demon" is a creation and extension of the will of that "god".
"Levi...is this true?" Magnus began to waver.
He stared at Li Wei in disbelief, hoping he could provide a perfect explanation to salvage his ingrained worldview, which was about to be reshaped.
"My Lord Archmage, have you forgotten about the problem of flesh mutation? Do you really think this is just a hidden curse in the warp? Only a god-like being could cast such a curse that even emperors cannot resolve."
Li Wei spoke in a heavy tone.
"Is what you're saying true?" Magnus frowned, lost in deep thought.
"Absolutely true!" Levi could only give a definite answer and then remained silent, waiting for Magnus to sort out his thoughts.
After a long silence, Magnus, who had been deep in thought, slowly spoke:
"Did my father, that great Lord of Mankind, know that gods and demons exist in the Warp? Otherwise, why would he promote the truth of the Empire and resist religion? This is to cut off the nourishment for the birth of gods in the mythological system and the existence of faith."
He wasn't asking Li Wei; he was muttering to himself.
He suddenly realized something: whether his father was intentionally hiding everything.
After a long while, he said in a hoarse voice:
"Father, don't you trust me? We've been father and son for decades, and I've always considered you my best friend and mentor. Why don't you trust me...?"
Looking at Magnus's dejected expression, Li Wei thought to himself:
"The emperor certainly has his reasons, but he can't just remain silent."
Li Wei didn't actually know why the emperor never explained anything to his children.
Sometimes, whether something is done or not is not important.
But you need to clearly explain why you're doing this for it to work.
After a moment, Magnus, having recovered his composure, said solemnly:
"If that's the case, has that deity already set its sights on you or me, or perhaps even the entire Thousand Sons Legion?"
"Yes!"
Li Wei resolutely decided on the tunnel.
"What can we do to deal with the gods? Or kill them!"
Magnus's eyes sharpened, and he said urgently.
He wasn't trying to make things difficult for Li Wei; rather, he had already realized that his chief think tank was hiding too many secrets.
Li Wei knew about the existence of gods, but he even captured a demon alive.
However, he didn't want to know Li Wei's secret; his chief think tank had already told him too many facts.
Li Wei is a trustworthy person, someone you can entrust your back to.
He didn't want to talk about it, and there must be a reason for it.
But Li Wei looked troubled and after a long while, he finally replied: "My Lord Archmage, perhaps only you can solve this problem."
"What do you mean?"
Magnus looked puzzled when Levi passed the question to him.
"As long as you keep the Thousand Sons Legion strong enough and build an incredibly solid psionic fortress, even the gods will have no way to attack it."
Li Wei said calmly.
"...That makes sense. Li Wei, you should go back now."
Magnus listened to the answer, which sounded like it was meant to fool a child, and his face darkened. He almost hit the person, but out of scholarly composure, he didn't retaliate and simply waved his hand dismissively.
Then, he suddenly remembered something and added:
"The matter of the gods is not urgent for now. The Emperor has agreed to my suggestion to promote the construction of think tanks throughout the entire legion. We are about to return to Terra, the heart of humanity, and use it as a foundation to fully implement the think tank system."
"Yes, Your Excellency Archmage."
After greeting everyone, Li Wei walked out of the operations conference room and headed to the engine room, preparing to return to his warship, the "Crimson Book".
As he dealt with the thousand warriors who saluted him along the way, his thoughts began to drift away.
However, his thoughts were not on promoting think tanks.
He was still thinking about Magnus's question of "how to kill the gods".
He actually had an idea in mind, but he didn't dare tell Magnus, fearing it would be too much for Magnus to bear.
Moreover, testing on his own Primarch was far too brutal; he didn't want to become the next Horus.
He needs to test it on a different Primarch to see if the plan will work.
This time, with the promotion of the think tank, he will see all the Primarchs except Peturabo.
There are so many materials available for experiments that it's impossible to choose from them all; there's no need to tinker with our own original.
