Chapter 179 Leng Meng: How come there are human presences here?
Chapter 179 Leng Meng: How come there are human presences here?
Lin Feng and Vivian both stiffened at the same time.
Vivian's eyes, still lingering with the afterglow of passion, instantly cleared, her pupils dilating slightly with tension.
"Hide for a bit..." she whispered, almost jumping out of Lin Feng's arms, and looking around in a panic.
Lin Feng reacted even faster than her.
He had already rolled out of bed, grabbed the clothes scattered on the floor, and his eyes quickly scanned every corner of the room—the space under the bed was too low, the curtains were too thin…
"The wardrobe!" Vivian whispered, "Quickly!"
As she spoke, she grabbed her silk nightgown from the bed and haphazardly put it on. She then rushed to the white wardrobe by the wall and forcefully pulled open the door.
Without hesitation, Lin Feng grabbed the clothes and quickly crawled into the wardrobe.
The closet wasn't very spacious, and the clothes hanging inside carried Vivian's unique scent. Several white lab coats and several sets of casual clothes were neatly arranged.
He tried to shrink himself down and hide behind his clothes.
"Wait—your shoes!" Vivian's gaze swept over the men's leather shoes beside the bed.
She practically lunged forward to grab the shoes, turned around and stuffed them into the bottom shelf of the wardrobe, then quickly pulled down a few drooping garments before closing the wardrobe door.
After doing all this, Vivian took a deep breath, gathered the front of her robe with both hands, fastened the belt, and hurriedly combed her messy golden curls with her fingers.
"Who is it?" she asked as she walked toward the door, trying to keep her voice steady.
"it's me."
The voice coming from outside the door was clear and familiar; even through the door panel, its distinctive texture could still be discerned.
It's Leng Meng, the deputy warden!
Lin Feng, hiding in the closet, felt a chill run down his spine.
It really is her!
Vivian glanced back at the wardrobe—the door was tightly closed, without any flaws—before turning the handle and opening the door a crack.
Leng Meng stood outside the door, dressed in casual black clothes, her face expressionless.
Her gaze lingered on Vivian's face for a moment before naturally sweeping across the room.
"Deputy Warden Leng, what's the matter so late?" Vivian opened the door a little wider, but her body remained blocking the doorway, showing no intention of moving aside.
Leng Meng rubbed her temples: "I haven't been sleeping well these past few days, so I came to ask you for a couple of sleeping pills."
"Wait a moment." Vivian breathed a sigh of relief and turned to walk towards her desk.
She remembered that the medicine box was in the bottom drawer.
Just as she bent down to rummage through the latrine, Leng Meng's nostrils twitched slightly.
"Here..." Leng Meng's voice held a hint of inquiry, "How can there be human presence here?"
Vivian's finger paused on the medicine bottle for a second.
She forced herself to remain calm, straightened up, took a small medicine bottle, and turned to walk towards the door.
"Wasn't it raining heavily just now? I didn't bring an umbrella, and a trainee prison guard held one for me and brought me back." Her speech was a little faster than usual, but her voice was still relatively steady. "Maybe it was just the lingering scent of him."
Leng Meng stared directly into Vivian's dark eyes and pressed, "Which trainee prison guard?"
Vivian felt her throat go dry.
She subconsciously raised her hand to tidy up the stray hairs by her ear, then shrugged nonchalantly.
"I didn't ask for the specific name... What's up, suddenly curious about this?"
"It's nothing." Leng Meng shook her head and didn't ask any further questions.
She silently berated herself—why was she suddenly so sensitive?
Could it be... that the person who brought Vivian back was Lin Feng?

Studio:
"Hahaha, Leng Meng is getting anxious! She definitely suspects that Lin Feng was the one who brought Vivian back!"
"When a woman starts to become suspicious, it means she's already fallen in love with him."
"I want to see Lin Feng suddenly roll out of the closet, hahaha!"
"No way! How will my brother Feng continue his pursuit of Leng Meng if that happens?"
"Scumbag behavior, but at least it's not me he's messing with, so I enjoy watching [doge]"
"I give Vivian's acting a perfect score!"
"What kind of chaotic scene is this? Please give us ten more episodes, thank you."
........................
Vivian handed the medicine bottle to Leng Meng: "This is an over-the-counter sleeping pill. Take one tablet before bed."
Leng Meng's gaze lingered on her face for a few seconds before slowly sweeping across the room—
The bed was a little messy, but still tidy; the documents on the desk were arranged in an orderly fashion; the pothos on the windowsill stretched quietly under the light...
Finally, her gaze lingered briefly on the closed wardrobe door.
Vivian felt like she was about to stop breathing.
But Leng Meng said nothing, reached out and took the medicine bottle, her fingertips lightly brushing against Vivian's.
"Thank you." Her voice remained calm. "Sorry to bother you."
"You're welcome, get some rest." Vivian forced a natural smile.
Leng Meng nodded and turned to leave.
Vivian gently closed the door, and only after she heard the footsteps in the corridor gradually fade away and disappear did she lean against the door and let out a long sigh of relief, her legs feeling a little weak.
A few seconds later, the wardrobe door was pushed open from the inside.
Lin Feng emerged carrying the clothes, his forehead already covered in a thin layer of sweat—both from the cramped space inside the closet and from the thrilling conversation he had just had.
"She's gone?" Lin Feng asked in a low voice.
Vivian nodded, then gently pressed her hand to her chest, complaining, "Coming out suddenly asking for sleeping pills, gave me quite a fright..."
Lin Feng walked to her side and gently took her hand: "Maybe it was just a coincidence. It's getting late, I should go back to my dorm."
He turned around, picked up his coat, and was about to put it on—
Suddenly, a cool hand gently grasped his wrist.
The force was not heavy, but it conveyed a silent persistence.
"Don't go."
Vivian's voice came from behind.
Lin Feng turned around.
Under the warm yellow light, Vivian stood a step away from him, the belt of her robe loosely tied, the collar slightly open, revealing her delicate collarbone and a small patch of skin.
Her blonde hair shimmered softly under the light, a few strands clinging messily to her neck, and her lake-blue eyes were fixed on him without blinking.
"What's wrong?" Lin Feng asked in a low voice, feigning ignorance.
Vivian gently rubbed his wrist twice with her fingers, then released them, but not completely let go; she simply slid them down a little and instead took his hand in hers.
"Don't go," she whispered, her voice tinged with a hint of shyness, a stark contrast to her usual capable and professional demeanor. "It's not safe outside...."
Lin Feng looked at her slightly flushed cheeks and evasive eyes, and a thought stirred in his heart, but he still deliberately teased her, saying:
"I'll stay here, just in case Deputy Warden Leng comes back..."
"Then let her see!" Vivian suddenly interrupted him, her voice rising slightly. "We're both willing participants; even if we do get caught, so what?"
As she spoke, her cheeks flushed even more, but her eyes were unusually firm, and she even raised her chin with a hint of stubborn defiance.
