Chapter 6 A New Situation
Chapter 6 A New Situation
On the soft green grass, four strong and powerful front paws tread.
The figures of two unfamiliar male lions gradually came into Chen Fei's sight.
Not their cheap father.
Instead, they were two other unfamiliar adult male lions.
The fact that they even came here already says something.
Chen Fei held his breath and quietly shrank behind Sair, carefully observing the two uninvited guests through the gaps in the grass.
The one on the left is larger, with a thick, broad, dark brown mane that almost completely covers its face. A scabbed-over old scar on its neck indicates it has been through more than one tough battle.
The one on the right is slightly smaller, but its limbs are long and slender, its steps are light, and it exudes a cunning air as it walks.
"One will fight the tough battles, the other will resort to underhanded tactics." Chen Fei quickly made his judgment in his mind, "This combination of partners is not simple."
He immediately made an estimate in his mind.
The cheap father's energy points are around 3000, but after last night's fierce battle, even if he wasn't seriously injured, the consumption must have been considerable. At this moment, maintaining around 2500 points is already an optimistic estimate.
Judging from their size and imposing presence, the one with the dark brown mane has at least 2800 points, while the lighter one is estimated to have around 2200 points.
The combined total exceeds 5000 points.
Facing two opponents alone, the cheap father might not even have a chance to escape.
"The wandering lion alliance, two against one, the lion king is likely to be in grave danger."
A bad thought flashed through Chen Fei's mind, and his tense gaze finally settled on Sair.
The other party has just defeated or driven away the lion king of the pride, and there is one last hurdle before they can successfully take over the pride.
That is, gaining the approval of all the lionesses in the pride.
This is the standard procedure for the invasion of nomadic male lions on the grasslands.
Then kill all the cubs.
The entire process was cruel, efficient, and utterly inhumane.
Of course, lions are inherently devoid of humanity.
At this point, both sides were still observing and assessing each other.
The two wandering lions walked at a leisurely pace, their steps steady, exuding an air of confident composure.
They were clearly used to this kind of scene and knew that the resistance from the lionesses was just a formality.
Once the lionesses in the pride realize they cannot defeat their opponents, they will quickly give in.
After all, a stronger lion king is better able to protect the pride.
The interests of the lionesses are not entirely aligned with those of the cubs.
Only lionesses with their cubs will unite and resolutely resist invading male lions.
But how long can this resistance last?
Time is running out for Chen Fei.
They would either be killed by the other side or leave the pride.
"Meow..."
Chen Fei anxiously bumped his head against Sel's forelimbs.
The latter crouched low, trying to project an aggressive stance, while letting out low growls of resentment to threaten the two approaching lions.
The wandering lion did not respond to the low growl.
The creature with the dark brown mane even lazily yawned, revealing a set of gleaming white fangs, as if to say, "You think you can scare me with that little noise?"
The stray male lion is getting closer and closer to the pride.
There are only four lionesses in the pride who are as steadfast and unwavering as Sail.
Two other lionesses, lacking cubs, are somewhat undecided about their stance.
The eldest daughter of the pride, Mimi, is about to reach adulthood physically, but her mind is still very fragile.
He was behaving even worse than Chen Fei at this point, and had already quietly hidden at the back of the group.
The four lionesses were no match for the two adult male lions.
Chen Fei became even more anxious.
He frantically clawed at Sel's forelimbs, emitting a series of incoherent growls, all conveying the same message: "At this point, stop struggling in vain and just run with me and Big Head."
"It would be too late if we waited any longer."
After roaring for a while, Sel realized that he hadn't deterred the two approaching invading lions. Only then did he notice the message sent by his eldest son.
She paused, then looked at Chen Fei at her feet.
The latter was struggling to pry at her front paws, trying to drag her backward.
"Take you with me to escape?"
Sel let out a low growl of doubt.
Chen Fei immediately nodded, then patted Da Tou's head, signaling the other person to come with him quickly.
Big Head, who had always listened to Chen Fei, hesitated at this moment.
Because Sel remained in the same spot.
She understood what Chen Fei meant, but where could she escape to?
Having left the protection of the lion pride, lost their hunting grounds, and run out of food, they eventually became hyenas' dinner when they were starving to death.
This outcome was almost predictable.
For a fleeting moment, Sel hesitated.
Seeing this, Big Head immediately glanced at Chen Fei with a look that said, "Brother, if Mom doesn't leave, I won't leave either," and then sat down nonchalantly and started scratching his ears with his hind paws.
Chen Fei was so angry that he almost lost his temper on the spot.
Why are you scratching your ears at this crucial moment!
He took a deep breath, suppressed his anger, and ran back to firmly pry at Sel's hind legs, continuing to transmit a new message.
"There's a small island across the river."
This idea had actually been lingering in Chen Fei's mind for some time.
Two months ago, while the pride was resting, he wandered north alone, trying to figure out the terrain at the edge of the territory.
It was on that occasion that he saw the isolated island in the distance—a piece of land in the middle of the river formed by silt and sand, not very large, but big enough for a small group of lions to stand on.
The island is covered with lush vegetation, and one can faintly smell the scent of bison herds.
Most importantly, nomadic male lions generally do not swim across rivers to chase prey.
It's not that it's impossible, but that it's not worth taking the risk.
There are crocodiles and hippos in the water, and no adult male lion would be willing to risk its life for a few lionesses and cubs.
That was their safest escape route for the time being.
"An isolated island?"
Sel was stunned again.
She had visited that river several times during her previous hunting trips, and there was indeed an isolated island in the middle, inhabited by a herd of bison.
If they can escape to a deserted island, they can escape the lion's pursuit.
time is limited.
Sair quickly made up his mind and led the Chen brothers backward, intending to make a quick getaway before the wandering lion could attack.
As for what the future holds, we can only leave that to the future.
Not only Chen Fei and her two cubs, but also the other lionesses in the pride with their cubs began to panic.
This pride of lions, consisting of only seven or eight adult females, was no match for the two invading adult males.
Besides the Chen brothers, there are four other cubs in the pride.
Two of them are male and two are female.
They were all younger than Chen Fei.
The oldest is only four or five months old, and the youngest is just over a month old.
One of the lion cubs, a little over four months old, particularly caught Chen Fei's eye.
The little lioness was usually quiet, with naturally curly fur. She was particularly possessive of her food while nursing, which earned her the nickname "stingy little devil" from Chen Fei.
At this moment, the stingy girl also sensed the violent atmosphere in the pride and huddled anxiously at her mother's feet.
"Let's split up and run!"
Chen Fei hurriedly yelled at the stingy mother and daughter, thus fulfilling his duty to remind them.
Besides not wanting to see the stingy person die in the lion's mouth, there was also a little selfish reason.
The more lion cubs that split up and run away, the greater their chances of escaping safely.
