Chapter 98
Chapter 98
He picked up the ball, walked back, and stood in front of Lin Feng.
"When you shoot," he said, "raise your elbow a little higher. When you release the ball, press your wrist down, don't let it slide forward."
He demonstrated it.
Lin Feng watched.
Zhou Jianguo handed him the ball.
"Give it a vote."
Lin Feng received the ball and stood outside the three-point line.
Take a deep breath.
Bend your knees, lift the ball, raise your elbows, and press your wrists down.
Shot.
The ball traced a high arc—
Swish.
Hollow.
Zhou Jianguo looked at the ball and nodded.
"That's it," he said. "Remember this feeling."
He turned and walked off the field.
After taking a few steps, I turned back.
"Play well."
Then he left.
Lin Feng stood on the field, watching his back.
Then he looked down at the ball in his hand.
He smiled.
Continue investing.
He returned home at seven o'clock.
As soon as the door opened, I smelled a delicious fragrance.
Cheng Yuxin was busy in the kitchen, with several bowls on the stove—porridge, fried eggs, meat buns, and a glass of milk.
She heard the door open and peeked out.
"Go take a shower, you'll be done soon."
Lin Feng nodded and went into the bathroom to take a shower.
When I came out, the table was already full.
Cheng Yuxin sat at the table, wearing a light blue sweater and her hair tied up. She wore light makeup—she didn't usually wear makeup.
She watched him sit down and push the milk towards him.
"Drink more."
Lin Feng picked up the milk and took a sip. It was warm, just right.
He ate two steamed buns, a fried egg, and a bowl of porridge.
Cheng Yuxin sat opposite him, not eating, just watching him.
After watching for a while, she spoke.
"Lin Feng".
Lin Feng looked up.
Cheng Yuxin opened her mouth as if to say something, but then swallowed it back.
"It's nothing," she said. "Eat more."
She picked up another steamed bun and put it in his bowl.
Lin Feng looked at her and smiled.
Cheng Yuxin blushed slightly.
After finishing breakfast, Lin Feng went back to his room to change his clothes.
He stood in front of the wardrobe, looking at the clothes inside.
That navy blue shirt, which Cheng Yuxin bought when she first took him to pretend to be her boyfriend, is now a bit tight on him—his shoulders are broader and his chest is thicker.
He chose a white T-shirt and wore a dark gray sports jacket over it. He wore black sweatpants and his sneakers were still the same Double Star brand, but with new insoles—the ones Cheng Yuxin bought for him last week.
He stood in front of the mirror and looked at himself.
Then he picked up the ball and went outside.
Cheng Yuxin stood at the door, holding a thermos in her hand.
"I made you some tea." She handed it to you. "Drink it if you're thirsty."
Lin Feng took it and put it in his backpack.
The two went out together.
As they went downstairs, Cheng Yuxin walked beside him, about a fist's distance away.
Her hands hung at her sides, her fingers slightly curled.
Lin Feng noticed it, but didn't say anything.
I left the residential area and walked towards the bus stop.
In late February, the sun came out in Beichuan, its rays warming the skin. The plane trees lining the streets were bare, their branches stretching towards the sky like a sketch.
Bus route 742 is here.
The two got on the bus and found a window seat.
Cheng Yuxin sat inside, and Lin Feng sat outside.
The car started moving.
The street scene outside the window moves backward—Weimin Store, Jianshe Road Market, the roasted sweet potato stall, the door is still closed.
Cheng Yuxin looked out the window and suddenly spoke.
"Lin Feng, are you nervous?"
Lin Feng thought for a moment.
"A little."
Cheng Yuxin turned her head and looked at him.
Lin Feng said, "But it's not that I'm afraid of losing."
Cheng Yuxin waited for him to continue.
Lin Feng remained silent for a few seconds.
