Yuzuriha Inori nodded and gave a soft "hmm".
"Wei, are you afraid of me?"
Unlike his usual neurotic self, Li Wei turned around and sighed deeply.
"Yuzuriha Inori, someone like you, really—"
"It's far from deserving of being called a monster."
"Wei?"
Seeing Li Wei's appearance, Yuzuriha Inori felt a strange sadness welling up inside her for some reason.
She walked over and gently hugged Li Wei from behind.
"I'm here for you, don't be afraid."
Li Wei chuckled.
"It's not me you're afraid of..."
"Never mind, let's not talk about that. It was my oversight. I'll remove the virus from your body now."
"You don't need to worry about hurting others; this is just the effect of the Apocalypse Virus."
Li Wei gently touched Yuzuriha Inori's head, which was resting its chin on his shoulder from behind, and then slowly ran his fingers through her hair.
"If you're still not reassured, then just keep this in mind."
"Before me, there is nothing that can call itself a monster."
"And you, at best, are just an ordinary girl who is slightly more capable than the average person."
Yuzuriha Inori paused for a moment, then slightly raised her head, which was resting on Li Wei's shoulder, and looked at Li Wei's profile.
Am I just an ordinary girl?
Before Li Wei could answer, Yuzuriha Inori smiled happily.
Her smile was as innocent as a child's.
A gentle breeze blew by, and Yuzuriha Inori quietly closed her eyes.
If only time could stop...
The girl had such a wishful thought.
but--
Yuzuriha released her hands, walked up to Li Wei, tilted her head slightly and smiled, her long pink hair swaying in the wind.
"Go, Wei."
"They need you."
"I... will be here, waiting for you to come back."

The funeral parlor——
Yang Qianqian happily fired the Gatling gun, watching not only the Ultimate Roar but also rows of fallen soldiers, and she felt all the pressure she usually felt was released.
"Sure enough, choosing the profession of wet nurse was the right decision!"
Yang Qianqian thought to herself happily.
Then, she suddenly realized that something seemed wrong ahead.
"Didn't those soldiers fall down earlier?"
"Am I dazzled?"
Just as Yang Qianqian fired another burst of fire, her communicator rang.
"Qianqian, something terrible has happened! Come back with Xiaoqiang right away!"
"Huh? Aren't we in a position of advantage?"
"The situation is very bad now, those soldiers, those soldiers..."
Before Dong could finish speaking, Yang Qianqian witnessed a horrifying scene.
All the soldiers, whether fallen or still fighting, suddenly swelled up and began to deform in various ways... They looked like humanoid insects of all kinds.
However, all of these insects were over two meters tall.
Yang Qianqian's face twitched, and she quickly called out loudly to Liu Yiqiang.
"Xiaoqiang, hurry up—"
He paused for a moment, then said, "Cover my rear so I can escape first!"
"I'm afraid of bugs!"
With that, Yang Qianqian put the Gatling gun back into her spatial backpack and ran away.
Liu Yiqiang watched Yang Qianqian run faster than a dog.
Bewildered.
At this rate of escape, he couldn't see the necessity of covering the rear.
"Never mind, since Sister Qianqian said so, I'll run it later. I'll just consider it training as my brother said."
Shaking his head, Liu Yiqiang continued fighting.
Far off on the battlefield, Dart the Gravekeeper, observing all of this, frowned deeply.
"So it really is an invasion from another world? Should I intervene?"
He then rejected the idea.
"Forget it, if I were to intervene, it would be bad to disturb that person's enjoyment. If I were to accidentally provoke him, the world might be destroyed."
With that thought, the tomb keeper vanished, turning into shimmering light in the void.
Meanwhile, Gai, who had rushed back to the funeral home headquarters, panted as he spoke to Tsugumi:
"There will be many more of those monsters later. Pass on the order to have them aim and launch all the missiles they got from the Temple."
"Ya?"
Tsugumi, who had originally intended to ask questions, decided to keep quiet and relay Gai's words.
Soon, rows of missiles flew out from the Funeral Parlor side, about to deliver a devastating blow to all the alien insects.
However, at this moment, another anomaly occurs!
P.S.: This is a pre-written update for tomorrow... The big questions this afternoon were a disaster, damn it... I'll have to cram for the next two days.
PS2: Let me recommend an app to you guys, Wallpaper. It's a paid app, but you have to pay to download it from Steam. I highly recommend it to fellow otaku like me. Its selling point: this app can install live wallpapers, and they even come with background music...yes, all sorts of anime characters and stuff. Anyway, if you're interested, you can search for it on Baidu. I suggest downloading wallpapers from the Steam Workshop on the platform; it's awesome!
PS3: The editor-in-chief added me on QQ and pulled me into a super big shot group. Then I found out that all the big shots in there were very skilled at pretending to be lazy. So, should I, a real lazy person, first learn how to pretend to be a big shot?
PS4: I never expected that among the messages selected from only twenty or thirty authors in the new writing contest, mine would be included. I was trembling inconspicuously among a bunch of messages from big names. And then, I clearly wrote at the end that you will become the next big name on Bookke, but it was changed to "the next one" QAQ...
Chapter Ninety-Four: You... Have Grown Up After All
All the missiles flying in mid-air were attacked from the ground and exploded.
In the distance, amidst the alien insectoid army, five-meter-tall, rhinoceros beetle-like insects, with cannon-like structures on their backs slowly oozing green liquid, were visible.
Gai Tsutsugami discovered that it was these insects that fired the missile from that long, cannon-like contraption.
"Instinct? Or innate intelligence? Or..."
Just as Gai Tsutsugami began to think, the alien insect army opposite him started to line up and attack.
"Sure enough, it was chaotic at first, but now the discipline is evident..."
Gai Tsutsugami's eyes flashed, and he gave an order to Tsugumi: "Have someone observe together and see if there is any leader-like figure among the enemy."
"Ya, what do you mean?"
"That's right, there should be at least one commander directing the monsters' attack."
"To catch the thief, first catch the king," Yang Shenya believed that killing the leader would greatly help their victory.
But... they are now facing a very serious situation.
That is, they didn't know how those alien insects communicated, and they had to find their target before the swarm of insects could overwhelm them!
"Damn it! If only he were here right now..."
Gai Tsutsugami clenched his fists and gritted his teeth as he spoke.
"Huh? Did you call me?"
Dancing grass!
Yang Shenya was startled, then turned around and saw Li Wei looking at him with a caring expression.
He stammered, "Why...why are you looking at me like that?"
"I'm wondering if you've been scared out of your wits."
"..."
Gai Tsutsugami's lips twitched.
If his personality were like Yang Qianqian's, he would probably be criticizing Li Wei.
Damn it, you're just trying to scare me, aren't you?
"Huh? You guessed that?" Li Wei said in surprise.
"You're trying to scare me to death!?" Gai Tsutsugami's personality was on the verge of collapse.
"Yeah, I'm just curious if it can really scare people to death."
"..."
Gai Tsutsugami straightened his clothes and took a deep breath.
Calm down, calm down, what I just said wasn't my usual style.
No, I need to control myself...
Damn it! Calm down, don't mess with my fist!
If you keep going like this, he'll beat me to death!
Having finally recovered, Gai Tsutsugami's expression returned to composure.
"What are some good solutions to this situation?"
"Overwhelming force?" Gai Tsutsugami suddenly asked.
Li Wei looked at Gai Tsutsugami speechlessly and said, "Why have you become just like Yang Qianqian? Stop resorting to violence so easily."
"..."
"Then you plan to..."
Li Wei picked at his ear. "Why should I bother with something that can be solved with just a few words?"
ha?
Dude, are you sure you're not kidding me?
This is war, not some kind of strong condemnation or something like "XX is very angry about it".
Gai Tsutsugami's mind couldn't help but stir, even though his face remained calm, except for the corner of his mouth that was trying hard to make the twitching less noticeable.
Soon after, Gai Tsutsugami truly calmed down.
"Okay, it's up to you."
He had seen Yang Qianqian's performance on the battlefield and was initially quite sympathetic towards her.
But now, Yagami feels that if his psychological adaptability were any worse, he might end up following in Yang Qianqian's footsteps.
The thought of himself carrying a heavy machine gun, laughing and firing away like a madman on the battlefield sent chills down Gai Tsutsugami's spine.
I absolutely refuse!
