Chapter 170 The Call of the Seven Deadly Sins
The voice seemed to strike directly into the deepest recesses of their souls, carrying an irresistible guiding force. Dai Youheng and Xue Di exchanged a glance, both seeing solemnity and resolve in each other's eyes. Since they could not resist it, they would face it with equanimity.
He tightened his grip on Xue Di's hand, took a deep breath, and led her onto this strange path that appeared in the endless void.
Along the roadside, the chaotic scene began to change dramatically, evolving into seven vastly different yet equally awe-inspiring images, like seven gateways leading to the abyss of humanity.
In the first image, a towering throne, constructed from the countless kneeling skeletons of worshipping beings, stands majestically. The figure seated upon it is indistinct, yet exudes an ultimate majesty that looks down upon all things, regarding all living beings as mere ants. His mere existence causes the surrounding stars to dim and the laws of nature to submit. It is an absolute arrogance that places oneself above all things in heaven and earth.
The second scene transforms into a grand divine celebration. However, in a dark corner, a twisted figure stares intently at the center of the celebration, the one who receives all the attention. He grips a poisoned dagger tightly in his hand, his eyes burning with an inextinguishable, venomous green flame, as if he wishes to drag all the beauty in the world into the same quagmire as himself—a soul-devouring pain caused by the lack of others' possessions.
In the third scene, heaven and earth seem to have transformed into a furnace and a sea of blood. A colossal god, towering between heaven and earth, has fallen into utter madness. Each of his punches shatters mountains and rivers and tears space apart. His boundless rage transforms into tangible destructive energy, burning and destroying everything in sight. That rage is pure and terrifying, without any restraint, only the ultimate destruction and catharsis.
The fourth image depicts a desolate, eternal swamp. Time seems to have lost its meaning here; everything sinks into decay, even thought becomes stagnant. A figure is half-submerged in the swamp, eyes vacant, indifferent to the decay and annihilation around him, as if he has lost even the desire to lift a finger. This is a complete abandonment of life, responsibility, movement, and thought; a descent into nihilism.
The fifth scene depicts endless, undulating mountains of treasure, piled high with divine weapons, martial arts manuals, and rare gems. A figure relentlessly seizes, his arms, pockets, and even his body overflowing with treasures, yet he still frantically grabs more, his eyes filled only with possession, devoid of any satisfaction. He repeatedly mutters, "Mine—all mine—" This is an insatiable, all-consuming possessiveness.
The sixth image is not an ordinary feast, but a far more terrifying act of "devouring." A colossal figure sits at a table, on which the "food" consists of flowing galaxies, shattered worlds, and even wailing souls! He devours insatiably, his body twisting and swelling as if it were a sac about to burst, yet he cannot stop his destructive gluttony. This is the most extreme distortion of the concept of "consumption."
The seventh image suddenly becomes ambiguous and dreamlike, filled with the alluring glow of pink and gold. Countless exquisitely beautiful or handsome men...
Enchanting creatures of various forms intertwine and entwine, emitting moans and invitations that make one blush. The air is filled with a suffocatingly sweet fragrance, and the ultimate sensory stimulation is amplified to the extreme, stirring the deepest primal desires of the soul and promising boundless, indulgent bliss.
When the Snow Emperor passed by this scene, even her icy, snow-carved face instantly flushed with two unbelievable blushes.
She instinctively tried to look away, but the image seemed to magically flood her mind. She felt a strange heat and panic, her grip on Dai Youheng's hand tightened unconsciously, and she even shrank slightly behind him, trying to avoid the omnipresent allure. This was a shyness and helplessness she had never experienced before, a feeling that struck her very soul.
Dai Youheng also felt the strong temptation, but his will was extremely firm. More importantly, he clearly sensed the embarrassment and tension of Xue Di beside him.
He snorted coldly, and the aura of the Abyss Demon Tiger automatically protected him, slightly isolating the seductive sounds. At the same time, he squeezed Xue Di's hand tightly, transmitting a reassuring power and helping her speed through this blush-inducing area.
Having traversed these seven long paths that reflect human nature, Dai Youheng had already gained a clear understanding, even though he had not yet encountered the entity that had led him here.
The seven scenes just now clearly represent the seven deadly sins of mankind: pride, envy, wrath, sloth, greed, gluttony, and lust.
The identity of someone who can wield and manifest these seven primordial sins of the universe, and who possesses such power to instantly capture their souls, is obvious!
He stopped, gazing at the all-encompassing darkness at the end of the road, and spoke in a deep voice, his tone carrying an unprecedented solemnity and certainty. He respectfully cupped his hands in greeting, saying, "I am Dai Youheng, paying respects to the seven Original Sin Gods who sit before the God King of Destruction of the Divine Realm Committee and who govern the primordial evil of the universe!"
As Dai Youheng finished speaking, his voice echoed in this eerie space.
In an instant, the terrifying scene reflecting the seven deadly sins was wiped away as if by an invisible giant hand; all the wails, temptations, destruction, and depravity vanished without a trace. The void returned to silence, as if everything that had just happened was merely an illusion.
"Hahaha--!"
Immediately afterwards, seven different laughs, each containing supreme divine power, rose and fell, echoing in the silent void, making it difficult to discern their exact origin or who was speaking.
"Indeed a clever lad." A deep and authoritative voice rang out, tinged with admiration.
"You've guessed who we are!" another slightly flippant voice chimed in, seemingly finding it amusing.
"The boy carries a heavy aura of sin; it seems what we dreamt about was real." This was a deeper voice, as if carrying an immeasurable weight.
Finally, a seductive and languid female voice chuckled softly, its tone as delicate as the finest silk brushing against the heart, "Little brother, you're quick-witted. As a reward for your correct guess, we'll let you see us~"
As soon as he finished speaking, the surrounding scenery changed drastically once again!
The endless dark void receded like a tide, replaced by a palace whose magnificence and grandeur defied description.
The palace's dome soared high as if it held the Milky Way, its pillars were carved with countless intricate and ancient runes, and its floor was as smooth as a mirror, reflecting the divine light flowing above.
At the very front of the palace stood seven enormous thrones, each with a distinct style.
On each throne sat a figure radiating immense divine power, five men and two women.
What's even more awe-inspiring is that behind each of these seven figures float seven dazzling halos of light, each containing boundless power of laws!
