Chapter 73 Wraiths, Little Spirits, and the Long Dream
Chapter 73 Wraiths, Little Spirits, and the Long Dream
"I sensed it, he's here..." Just as he approached the castle, Azik raised his head and looked in a certain direction as if sensing something. Even though most of his abilities had not yet recovered, his instincts as a Death Archon still made him sense the presence of something here.
It was a vengeful spirit, a vengeful spirit connected to him by blood.
As he finished speaking, and as a thick gray fog enveloped everyone, a vengeful spirit dressed in knight's armor appeared. Its eyes held no reason, only anger and coldness.
"You..." The vengeful spirit clearly wanted to say something, but when its gaze fell on Azik, it stammered. It was hard to say whether the vengeful spirit regained its rationality for a moment, or whether it simply felt the majesty of the high-ranking being of death.
"I'm so sorry." Azik looked around, then stepped forward and embraced the cold, vengeful spirit, his voice soft yet filled with deep emotion: "I'm sorry, Daddy's late."
The vengeful spirit fell completely silent. It neither attacked Azik, nor fled, nor responded. It simply stood there blankly, like a puppet.
Klein looked away with a pained expression. Becoming a vengeful spirit in this world didn't mean there was no hope, but losing one's sanity meant there was basically no hope.
The vengeful spirit before them had clearly lost all reason.
Rosen watched this scene quietly without saying a word. He suddenly noticed Klein looking at him with a hesitant expression, as if he wanted to say something but couldn't. He couldn't help but chuckle and asked, "What's wrong?"
"Um, is there any way?" Klein couldn't help but ask in a low voice. Under normal circumstances, it is almost impossible to save a vengeful spirit that has lost its mind. But after all, there was a person who was not quite normal in front of him. Thinking of Old Neil's fiancée who was rescued, Klein couldn't help but feel some hope.
"Do you think I'm omnipotent?" Rosen glanced at him and said with a chuckle, "Besides, why should I help him...?"
"Please consider it a favor to me, okay?" Klein quickly said, and promised, "Next time, next time no matter who you want to play a prank on, I'll help you."
"Really?" Rosen's eyes lit up, and he then smiled and said, "Okay, I can definitely give it a try."
Almost completely out of their minds, Old Neil's fiancée could be saved, which made no sense, but this vengeful spirit, whose spirit was even better preserved, couldn't be saved.
"Do you have a way to save him?" Although Azik was immersed in the sorrow of reuniting with his son, he wasn't completely oblivious to what was happening around him. At this moment, he couldn't help but look at Rosen, his eyes filled with expectation and pleading. He said:
"If you have a way, please save him. I'm willing to pay any price for it."
"We'll talk about the cost later!" Rosen waved his hand, stepped forward, and examined the specimen, which was completely different from Old Neil's fiancée, with great interest. Then he reached out and grabbed its shoulder, carefully sensing it.
A moment later, Rosen withdrew his hand, revealing a sunflower seed. He smiled and said, as if coaxing a puppy, "Open your mouth."
The vengeful spirit opened its mouth in a daze.
Without a second's hesitation, Rosen stuffed the sunflower seeds into the other man's mouth, then reached out to Azik and said, "Give me his skull, and a drop of your blood. Just drip the blood directly onto the skull."
Azik immediately did as instructed.
Rosen pressed the skull dripping with Azik's blood against the head of the vengeful spirit, and the skull merged with the spirit, while he casually chanted something.
The next second, the sunflower's roots grew out of the vengeful spirit's body, taking root in the invisible resentment. As the sunflower grew bigger and bigger, the vengeful spirit's body became thinner and thinner.
When the vengeful spirit completely disappeared, it was replaced by a sunflower that had not yet bloomed.
Rosen watched this scene thoughtfully. With a flick of his wrist, Peter Pan's golden arrow appeared. However, Rosen did not shoot the arrow. Instead, he handed it to Azik, who was waiting anxiously, and said, "Here!"
"What?" Azik took the golden arrow with some confusion, not understanding for a moment what Rosen wanted to do.
"A seed can only be reborn through destruction. Your child's spirit is well-preserved, and the bloodline of the Grim Reaper has given him some unique qualities, so we can skip some intermediate procedures." Rosen smiled at Azik and commanded:
"Come, kill it with the arrow in your hand."
Azik stared wide-eyed, seemingly at a loss for what to do.
Klein blinked, glancing at the golden arrow with some confusion.
Isn't this the "Arrow of a Loving Family" from Lawson?
"Does it really have to be this way?" Azik asked incredulously.
"Of course!" Rosen nodded, then emphasized, "And it has to be you who does this. You are his father, and only your directives to his feelings can bring him back to his senses."
"I understand." Azik took a deep breath and did not refuse. He didn't know if Rosen was telling the truth, but at this point, this was the only way he could go.
Trying is the only way to salvage the child's rationality; otherwise, all he can do is offer him relief.
Azik then stepped forward and thrust the golden arrow into the sunflower.
The next second, the golden arrow burst forth with dazzling light, like a small sun, but it was not scorching, only warm.
Under that sun, the sunflowers bloomed, then quickly withered, leaving only a single, enormous seed.
"Click—"
The seed split open in the middle, and a tiny person, no bigger than a palm, appeared in everyone's sight. The person looked a bit like a tree spirit from a fairy tale, with small and cute green wings and a confused and bewildered look in their eyes.
But when the little elf saw Azik, his bewildered eyes gradually cleared. As if remembering something, he called out uncertainly, "Father?"
"I'm here." Azik was both excited and at a loss as he picked up the elf, his body trembling.
"I think I had a very long dream. In the dream, you left, and then..."
The elf covered his head and said in confusion, "I don't remember. I'm sorry, Father, I seem to have forgotten a lot of things."
"You don't need to apologize, I'm the one who should apologize," Azik said, closing his eyes and almost whispering, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry..."
Something touched his cheek, causing Azik to open his eyes. He saw the little elf looking at him earnestly, saying, "I don't know what happened, but don't cry, Daddy. This isn't like you, it's so embarrassing..."
After a pause, the little elf seemed to hesitate for a moment, then lowered her voice and said, "Of course, I know that even Daddy can have vulnerable moments, but at least don't cry in front of everyone. Or we can go back and cry secretly, cough, I promise I won't tell anyone..."
At that moment, Azik couldn't help but laugh. He wiped the corner of his eye with his free hand and said, "Okay, let's cry secretly when we get home."
