Chapter 12 The Mad Boar
Chapter 12 The Mad Boar
It's not a complete fusion, just the most basic connection.
But as long as Quill's mother wears it, she gains a portion of the charm's power: the ability to transform into any animal.
But this requires guidance.
If she accidentally triggers her ability, the consequences would be unimaginable.
Now, if he wants to take back the Monkey Talisman, the two humans in front of him are completely unable to stop him.
But S.H.I.E.L.D. must know about his and Quill's whereabouts, and they must have sent someone somewhere to watch them. If he does anything unusual, S.H.I.E.L.D. will definitely intervene.
The Holy Lord clenched his fingers slightly, and the end of his tail twitched gently as he forcefully suppressed his desire for the Monkey Talisman.
"Mom, why don't you try it on?" Quill asked expectantly.
The woman smiled as she hung the pendant around her neck.
Nothing happened.
The Holy Lord breathed a sigh of relief, and his tail relaxed again.
It seems that without active guidance, the talisman will not be easily triggered, but that faint connection of power has been established, and he can clearly sense the connection between the talisman and the woman.
But just then, a loud bang came from outside the window.
Everyone was stunned.
Quill rushed to the window, with the Holy Lord following closely behind.
In the distance, towards the town's gas station, flames soared into the sky.
"Oh my god."
Quill's mother covered her mouth: "That's...that's a gas station!"
Another explosion.
The Holy Lord narrowed his eyes, and the firelight flickered in his red vertical pupils.
He saw something moving in the firelight; the figure didn't look human, but more like some kind of enormous creature.
"What is that?" Quill's voice changed.
The Holy Lord did not answer. He sensed a familiar aura emanating from the creature—the aura of the Chitauri remains.
There was debris left near the town, and it was devoured by some kind of creature.
"I have to go check it out," Quill said, and started to rush outside.
"Wait," the Holy Lord stopped him, "that's no ordinary beast."
Quill turned his head, his gaze resolute.
"I know, but there are gas stations, residents, and shops I used to frequent when I was a kid."
He paused, then lowered his voice: "The important thing is, this is my home."
The Holy Lord looked at him and fell into a brief silence.
If anything really happens, S.H.I.E.L.D. will definitely step in.
The Holy Lord nodded and said in a deep voice, "I'll go with you."
The gas station is completely unrecognizable.
Flames engulfed the ruins, and thick smoke billowed.
The creature, now clearly visible, was a gigantic wild boar, more than ten times the size of a normal wild boar, searching for something in the ruins.
The wild boar's skin was covered with metallic scales, and its eyes gleamed with an eerie blue light.
It is clear that wild boars have been influenced by Chitauri biotechnology.
Debris pieces fell nearby and were eaten by the wild boar.
The Chitauri's genetic modification technology is working within it, causing it to mutate into this monster.
"It's still growing." Quill stared at the creature.
The Holy Lord nodded, his tail taut behind him; if left unchecked, it would grow larger and more dangerous.
The problem is, their weapons are all in the car, and that car is now parked in front of Quill's house.
"I'll distract it," Quill said, and began to act.
"Wait a minute," the Holy Lord stopped him.
His brain was working at high speed.
In his current form, although he has regained his physical body, his strength is far less than in his prime, making it difficult for him to deal with this monster alone.
If Quill gets involved, he risks exposing his true strength.
But if it's not dealt with quickly, the town will be destroyed.
As for the S.H.I.E.L.D. members observing from the side, it's highly likely that they were the ones who released the wild boar; otherwise, how could such a coincidence happen?
A wild boar risks becoming a roast suckling pig by precisely eating the remains infused with Chitauri genetic modification technology, and in doing so, detonates a gas station.
Quill looked at the monster in the distance, then at the Holy Lord.
"I have an idea," he suddenly said.
The Holy Lord looked at him.
"I need you to buy me some time."
Quill's voice was urgent: "I'll get a car and lead it out of town. There's an abandoned quarry over there; we can trap it there."
"And then?" the Holy Lord asked.
Quillton paused, then pulled a small device from his pocket.
"I took this from the cleaning station."
"The detonation device for the Chitauri energy core; if we just drive it into that thing, we can blow it up from the inside."
The Holy Lord looked at the device and slowly nodded: "But you only have one chance."
"I know."
Quill took a deep breath: "So I need your help. You can sense the energy fluctuations, right? Tell me where its core is when the time comes."
The Holy Lord paused for a second, then said, "Alright."
Quill turned and ran toward a pickup truck in the distance.
The Holy Lord stood in the firelight, watching the mutated wild boar devour the ruins of the gas station, completely unaware of them.
He closed his eyes and sensed the energy around him. Apart from the faint fluctuations of the monkey rune in the distance, there was only the radiation from the Chitauri ruins.
Then he opened his eyes, his red vertical pupils locking onto the inside of the mutated wild boar's left foreleg.
The energy fluctuations are strongest there.
The core is right there.
"Left foreleg, inside." The Holy Lord's voice was resolute.
Thanks!
Quill drove up in his pickup truck, engine roaring.
The wild boar raised its head and looked at him.
"Come on, you idiot!"
Quill leaned out of the car window and shouted, "There's good food over here!"
The wild boar let out a deafening roar and charged at the Pikachu.
Quill jerked the steering wheel, and the pickup truck cut an arc through the ruins, speeding out of town.
The wild boar pursued relentlessly, each step shaking the ground.
The Holy Lord stood there, watching them depart into the distance.
Then he moved, not running, but in a way that was somewhere between gliding and flying; his body left the ground and silently swept through the night.
He needs to keep his distance, out of Quill's sight, but close enough to make a crucial move.
We've arrived at the quarry.
This is a mine that has been abandoned for many years, with steep walls and a bottom of hard rock.
Quill's pickup truck crashed into the center of the mine and came to an abrupt stop.
Wild boars followed closely behind, their massive bodies blocking the entrance.
Quill jumped out of the car, holding the detonator in his hand.
Quill's eyes searched the boar's body, looking for the spot the Holy Lord had mentioned: the inside of its left foreleg.
The wild boar moved quickly, its huge hooves stomping on the ground again and again, each time getting closer to him.
"Damn it." Quill gritted his teeth, trying to find an opportunity.
Just then, the wild boar suddenly turned around, as if searching for another direction, and its left foreleg was raised.
Quill saw it; the core, shimmering with blue light, was right there.
Without hesitation, he activated the detonator and threw it with all his might.
The device accurately hit the core and embedded itself.
The wild boar let out a painful roar and turned to run away.
But it was too late.
The explosion's light engulfed everything.
The Holy Lord stood at the edge of the mine, looking down at the firelight below.
Quill lay on the ground, protecting his head with his arms, as the shockwave from the explosion swept over him.
As the flames gradually died down, Quill got up, covered in ash, with a smile of relief on his face.
"I did it!" he shouted upwards. "Did you see that? I did it!"
The Holy Lord emerged from the shadows, stood at the edge of the mine, and looked down at him: "I see."
Quill was panting heavily when he suddenly remembered something: "When that guy turned around just now, I was worried I wouldn't make it in time..."
Before he could finish speaking, he interrupted himself, grinning, "You're really lucky."
