Chapter 613 Let's Lie Together
There's no need to go into too much detail about Captain Marvel, Mar-Vell. The days when he was a main character in the comics weren't even during major events. He died so young that nobody really knew him.
However, in the current 616 universe, Peter and his team have actually been keeping some things from Mar-Vell, or more precisely, almost everything related to the Kree Empire.
The preparations made by S.H.I.E.L.D. were most likely made to guard against an invasion by the Kree Empire. Even setting aside what Peter knew, judging from the intelligence obtained, including from the wasteland universe, S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Avengers have been on guard against a possible Kree invasion, just as they were guarding against a possible secret invasion.
The establishment of SkySword was most likely to counter a potential Kree fleet, and a large number of Kang's warships were preserved. However, since this event has not yet occurred, and given Thor's previous statement that when a civilization prepares a large number of weapons for interstellar warfare, it will be seen as ready for war by other civilizations, Earth has been secretly preparing for this matter.
Of course, there are other practical factors as well, but they are not important.
So, what reason would the Kree have to invade Earth in this universe? First, it wouldn't be a surprise attack to kill the Skrulls; Earth is at the end of a spiral arm in the Milky Way, a place very far from both empires. Second, it would be a secret invasion; if the Skrulls attacked Earth first, the Kree might then come here.
Therefore, even though Mar-Vell found it ridiculous, Fury insisted that he design a device to detect Skrull genes in order to prevent the Skrulls from secretly invading.
If even the Skrulls are excluded, then does the Kree Empire still have any reason to invade?
Yes, although it's not entirely possible, if the Kree Empire discovers that the Inhumans haven't been wiped out, then an invasion of Earth is indeed a possibility.
The Inhumans are certainly still alive. Thousands of years ago, they wiped out the Kree soldiers guarding them and began attempting to reverse engineer their technology. They eventually migrated to the moon before World War II. Due to years of isolated reproduction, the Inhuman population has dwindled to less than 3000, but they still survive.
This was a pretext for war, so in order to prevent a possible Kree invasion, everyone in the wasteland universe who knew about the Inhumans' existence was keeping it from Mar-Vell, preventing him from reporting it to the Kree Empire. After all, Earth wasn't ready to go to war with the Kree Empire.
In addition, both S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Avengers have tried to contact the Inhumans, but unfortunately, they have not received any response, as it seems that the other side is unwilling to communicate.
So Peter didn't mention that in some of the universes where Mar-Vell survived, the Kree Empire invaded Earth; he simply stated this simplest scenario. Upon hearing this, Mar-Vell paused for a moment, then scratched his head incredulously, asking in confusion, "There aren't any universes where I survived?"
"Yes, brother, there definitely are, it's just that I haven't met them yet. At least in the universes I know where you exist, you're basically all dead, with only one survivor."
Mar-Vell perked up at this, asking curiously, "So, what happened in that universe that didn't die?"
"A group of multiverse-level evil gods called the Multihorns revived you, turned you into a pathogen, and killed the concept of death in that universe. From then on, that universe itself developed cancer, so—"
Peter clearly saw the guy's face fall. He had originally intended to hear what the guy had gone through, but instead it seemed he was facing either death or a fate worse than death. Peter sighed helplessly and comforted him, "At least you're still healthy, right? Regular checkups should have detected it. Early-stage cancer tumor removal isn't difficult."
"I hope so. Thank you, Spider-Man. You and your friends can continue playing around with S.W.O.R.D., I—"
I'm going to schedule a physical exam.
Watching Mar-Vell leave in a hurry, Peter shrugged helplessly. Turning around, he saw Cindy staring at the space plants. Peter walked over. Most of the plants here were still Earth plants, but they had undergone various mutations due to space radiation. Seemingly noticing Peter approaching, Cindy straightened up: "Is there anywhere you want to go?"
"Actually—there is one, but not in Sky Sword Bureau. I want to go to the moon to meet a friend I've never met before." Peter said, walking into the corridor and looking at the huge moon outside the porthole. "You probably haven't seen him. That guy is called The Observer. He has a huge bald head, and his only ability is to observe everything that happens in our universe and record it."
"If he could tell us what the bad guys are doing, we could take them out of the way sooner?"
Cindy inquired curiously. If there really was an omniscient person who could help, then she should indeed pay them a visit. However, Peter shook his head: "The Observer race has caused serious consequences by interfering in the development of other civilizations in the past, so they decided to no longer interfere arbitrarily. Although there have indeed been similar cases of interference, at least in the current situation of our world, they will not step forward."
"Okay, let's go see what else is fun on this ship."
The Blue Zone of the Moon.
"A million years ago, the Skrulls were a race that knew nothing of war. They developed cutting-edge technology in the universe and, relying on their shapeshifting and telepathic abilities, quickly became able to empathize with other races, coexisting peacefully with all people."
A blue-clad man with a large bald head and gleaming eyes walks through his current residence; he is the observer, speaking to the reader.
"Then they discovered the ancient Kree and brought them here. This is the ancient building the Kree built, and that's why the Kree remembered the coordinates of Earth—but that's not what we're concerned with now."
The observer spoke while looking towards Earth.
"We are witnessing something terrible happening deep beneath the ocean, on the distant seabed. But to trace its origins, we probably need to rewind time to a much earlier period. The source of this horrific disaster lies in an incredibly distant place."
"Its name is Asgard, the dwelling place of the gods."
