"Hiss!"
“Gah!”
Gengar was surprised; this was the first time in so long that someone had acknowledged their comedic performance, and they were immediately moved.
They would sometimes go out and perform for the town's residents, but they were never well-liked by the residents, so they ended up staying in the Elf Tower to entertain themselves.
And today, finally, someone recognizes them.
"Wang?"
Growlithe watched Gengar and the others laugh one minute and cry the next, and its brain completely shut down. It felt like the Gengar and the others in front of it were probably idiots.
"Geng Ga!"
"Hiss!"
"Gaz!"
Gengar and the others immediately ran to Gary's side and began their facial expressions, making all sorts of funny faces. Although it was quite unique, it was still quite funny considering their creepy appearance.
"Hehe, you guys are really interesting," Xiao Mao laughed.
Although Gengar's comedic performances are not entertaining at all, they are inherently funny, and their efforts to make people laugh are quite comical and interesting.
Hearing Xiao Mao's praise, Gengar and the others performed even more energetically. After so many years, finally someone recognized their comedic performance.
Growlithe was even more confused, but seeing that Gengar and the others didn't seem to be attacking, it lowered its guard and watched the show with Gary.
The Gengar and the others performed for quite a while before stopping.
"Gengar!" Gengar came over and asked Gary how their performance went.
"Your performance was very good, but there's still a lot of room for improvement," Xiao Mao commented.
Gengar and the others didn't quite understand what "great potential for growth" meant; they were content as long as they heard that the performance was good.
"By the way, I have a friend who doesn't like to laugh. I think if you guys performed something for her, it would definitely make her laugh," Xiao Mao said.
"Geng Ga!"
"Hiss!"
“Gah!”
Gengar and the others were surprised; it was the first time they had heard of someone who didn't like to smile, and they immediately became interested.
"If you can make my friend laugh, I'll call you the greatest comedians in the Pokémon world," said Gary.
"Gengga!!"
"Thud!!"
"GAZ!!"
Gengar and the others were immediately drawn to the title of the greatest comedian in the Pokémon world.
"Gengar!" Gengar patted Gary on the shoulder, meaning, "Where's your friend? Bring him over quickly."
"Hiss!"
“Gah!”
Gastly and Haunter promise to deliver the most hilarious comedy performance and make your friends laugh.
“My friend is in Golden City and can’t come over right now. Besides, he’s busy all the time and doesn’t have time to come over. How about I take you there?” Xiao Mao said.
“Gengga…!”
Gengar and the others hesitated for a moment. They usually lived in the Pokémon Tower, and they would definitely have some concerns if they suddenly had to leave it open.
"Golden City is an international metropolis. If you like performing, there are plenty of big stages available," Xiao Shigeru reminded them.
"Geng Ga!"
"Hiss!"
“Gah!”
Upon hearing that there was a large stage, Gengar and the others immediately agreed to go to Saffron City with Gary.
"Okay, it's settled then," Xiao Mao said.
This time, Gary didn't use battle to capture them, but instead used words to persuade them, and he didn't intend to capture these three Ghost-type Pokémon.
Because these three Pokémon dream of becoming comedy masters and love performing, they have no interest in battling, so capturing them would be a waste.
So, it's no use for a Pokémon to have potential alone; it also needs to be aggressive, otherwise it won't put in its best effort during training.
Ash does this very well. If his Pokémon doesn't want to fight, he won't force them. He'll even help his Pokémon achieve their dreams.
As for the stage that Gary mentioned, that was naturally provided by Najun for Gengar and the others.
Since he had already summoned three Ghost-type Pokémon, Najun would naturally have to fulfill the promised conditions on his behalf.
Anyway, there's a psychic school in the Goldenrod Gym with a lot of students. Setting up a stage for Gengar and the others in the school is no problem at all.
"Come on, let me introduce my Pokémon to you." Gary also released his Pokémon to introduce it to Gengar.
Gengar and the others were quite friendly, especially since no one had visited the Pokémon Tower for many years, and so many people had come tonight, which made Gengar and the others very happy.
Gary even suggested that Gengar and his Pokémon put on a comedy show, with Gary and his Pokémon as the audience. They took out their food and energy cubes from their backpacks and started a party, which everyone had a great time with.
If anyone were to pass by, they would definitely think the Elf Tower was haunted, but to the people of Lavender Town, it's perfectly normal, since they're used to it.
Chapter 33: Return to Golden City
Early the next morning.
Gary, along with Gengar, Gastly, and Haunter, embarked on their journey back to Saffron City.
Since Gary didn't capture them, Gengar and the others are temporarily hiding in Gary's shadow, which is a unique way for Ghost-type Pokémon to hide.
Xiao Mao rode as fast as possible in the shade, taking a whole morning to reach Golden City around noon.
This is mainly because the roads in Jinhuang City and Ziyuan Town are relatively flat, so it only takes half a day to get there.
"Xiao Mao, you're back so soon!"
Just as I was about to call Na-jun, Na-jun's voice came from behind Xiao-mao.
"Mr. Najun...have you been waiting for me here?"
"I just stopped by on the way. But you came back so quickly, did you really catch a Ghost-type Pokémon?" Najun asked doubtfully.
Having figured out the reason for Naji's change, Najun hoped that Xiaomao could come back soon, so she had been wandering around this area. Coincidentally, she came here after lunch and saw Xiaomao riding over.
Only one night had passed, and Xiao Mao had already caught a Ghost-type Pokémon and returned. That was incredibly fast.
Ghost-type Pokémon are very difficult to catch; even Najun, a psychic, cannot detect their presence.
"It's not really about subduing them, it's just asking them to come and help," Xiao Mao said.
"Please come and help?"
Is it still possible to invite them?
Najun didn't care about any of that, as long as she brought the Ghost-type Pokémon, she asked, "What about the Ghost-type Pokémon?"
“Right here beside you,” Xiao Mao said.
"Beside me?"
Najun was even more confused. She looked around but couldn't find any Ghost-type Pokémon. She frowned and said, "Xiao Mao, you're not saying this on purpose because you didn't catch any Ghost-type Pokémon, are you?"
Xiao Mao is only 10 years old, and Na Jun thinks he must be lying.
"Geng Ga!"
However, as soon as he finished speaking, Gengar deliberately appeared next to Najun.
"Gengar!" Najun exclaimed in surprise.
"Hiss!"
"Gaz!"
Then, Gastly and Haunter appeared one after another.
"You...you actually summoned three Ghost-type Pokémon...!" Najun exclaimed in disbelief.
Ghost-type Pokémon are notoriously difficult to catch; most trainers are lucky to catch even one. Yet, Gary managed to get three Ghost-type Pokémon at once, and what's more, he didn't even catch them; he invited them over. That's amazing!
“Mr. Najun…!” Xiao Shi didn’t hide anything and told him about his experiences with Gengar and the others, as well as their love for comedy performances.
"I never imagined that the Ghost-type Pokémon in the Pokémon Tower came out to scare people because they like comedy."
After hearing this, Najun was also surprised to learn that the reason why the Elf Tower was haunted was because of this.
Who would have thought that Ghost-type Pokémon would enjoy comedy performances?
“No problem. As long as you can save my daughter, I will build a stage for you at the school and let you perform every week. If you perform well, I can even get the TV station to broadcast your performance,” Najun said.
Najun is, after all, the former Gym Leader of the Goldenrod Gym and a psychic master herself, so she still has a lot of status and position.
"Geng Ga!"
"Hiss!"
"Gaz!"
Upon hearing that they could appear on television, Gengar and the others immediately assured Najun that they would definitely save his daughter.
So, the two men and three ghosts began to discuss their plan.
The plan is simple: Gary will challenge Sabrina, and then Gengar and the others will secretly sneak up to Sabrina's side. When the battle has gone on for a while, Sabrina will teleport out.
When Najun appears, it's time for Gengar and the others to attack. They can then directly attack the doll next to Sabrina.
The Gengar and the others nodded in agreement.
Xiao Mao felt a bit uneasy, because Gengar and the others weren't reliable.
In the original storyline, Gastly promised to help Ash, but then kept disappearing, completely forgetting about what it had promised.
Although Gengar and Gastly have arrived, they don't seem to be much better than Haunter.
