Chapter 64 The Connected World in the Painting
Chapter 64 The Connected World in the Painting
Sun Ruineng could feel the entire apartment building trembling slightly, as if someone was moving the whole building.
This change didn't last long, only about ten minutes, before it gradually stopped.
At that moment, the paint rain outside the window suddenly subsided considerably.
"It seems to be effective, but I wonder how much of an effect the daytime operation will have," Sun Rui thought to himself.
Apart from the sound of paint dripping outside, the apartment was very quiet. He had not encountered any attacks from Arya or Marcus tonight.
This finally allowed him to get a good night's sleep.
The next morning.
The night outside turned into day in an instant.
"To be honest, I think I've gotten a little used to this situation," Sun Rui said.
He stood at the window and looked out. The road, which was originally several hundred meters long, was now only a few dozen meters long, as if it had been forcibly cut and then reconnected.
"It is indeed shrinking, but I wonder if the world as a whole is getting smaller."
Thinking of this, he immediately went downstairs to verify his guess.
This time, he didn't encounter Marcus or Arya on the first floor, and even Liu Feng's door was tightly closed.
The doors he kicked down yesterday have been restored to their original condition.
The layout of the entire apartment building was not damaged as one might have imagined.
The room on the first floor was still there. After Sun Rui opened it and checked it, there was no one inside.
He walked out of the apartment building. The road was deserted, and he didn't see many people. Even those who had been cautious yesterday were looking at him with fear.
It took him about 30 minutes to walk to the edge of the world without driving.
This is much smaller than the area he explored yesterday.
The road that was originally broken at the edge of the world can no longer be seen on the other side.
"If this incident had a bigger impact, perhaps the two roads could have been connected," he thought.
But his actions yesterday have greatly reduced the likelihood of the road being connected.
Sun Rui checked again and found that the original location of the airport had completely disappeared, replaced by darkness.
After repeated confirmation, the world has indeed shrunk considerably.
"We still need to stop for a while, we can't be too hasty," Sun Rui muttered to himself as he walked down the street.
He did not continue to clean up those paranormal replicas for the time being.
Because he was unsure whether things would change or collapse if the world's population dropped to a certain level.
Just as he was thinking, the whole world began to shake violently, as if an earthquake had struck.
"What's going on...?" Sun Rui exclaimed in surprise.
He looked around, and the environment began to become transparent and illusory.
Gradually, it began to blend in with the real buildings, and gray-white paper dust drifted in the sky.
He recognized it at a glance; it was Ghostly Domain of Ghost Painting.
"Damn it, how did Ghost Painting get here? Did someone trigger Ghost Painting's killing pattern?" Sun Rui thought to himself.
But he quickly understood what was going on.
He looked behind him and saw that the original city was gone, replaced by another unfamiliar city.
The two cities are connected by a road.
"Someone has reconnected the broken circuit!" Sun Rui suddenly realized.
"Is it Arya or someone else?" Sun Rui wondered.
Based on the information provided by Liu Feng, Arya is very likely not dead.
With too little information, he had no way of figuring out who did it.
"What kind of anomalies will occur when the ghost paintings are connected? It shouldn't just be that the ghost paintings invade this city, right?" Sun Rui guessed.
The world in the painting blended quickly with reality. The sound of a car horn came from beside Sun Rui, who was standing in the middle of the road.
"Damn it! Do you want to die? Get out of the middle of the road!" the driver roared angrily.
But the next moment, the driver broke out in a cold sweat.
Because the person blocking the way disappeared in an instant, and a thick fog rolled in around them.
"The ghost realm of the ghost painting can't suppress my supernatural abilities, which is good news!" Sun Rui said calmly.
The eerie oppressive force of the world depicted in the painting disappeared.
Sun Rui used the Ghost Domain to quickly head towards the gray brick apartment.
Along the way, he discovered that all the places that had disappeared in the painting had been restored, indicating that nothing in the painting affected reality.
Many people went outside and watched the gray ashes of paper falling from the sky.
Some people curiously tried to catch it with their hands, but they couldn't catch it no matter what they did.
"The ghost realm of the Ghost Painting is really too big; it covers at least the entire city," Sun Rui said.
He immediately realized that what he had received was the original ghost painting, not a derivative work.
With the help of the Ghost Domain, he quickly returned to his apartment.
At this moment, Cassius on the first floor collapsed to the ground as if he had seen a ghost, with a pool of yellow liquid flowing on the ground.
"How...are you still alive?"
Standing before him was his brother Marcus, whose body had been cremated and reduced to ashes several days earlier.
Marcus ignored him and turned to Arya, saying, "Your plan succeeded. As expected, once the broken path is reconnected, I will no longer be restricted by territory and consciousness."
"Dad, hurry up and complete the task to get out of here. I know where the door is, and then we can leave this awful place," Arya said excitedly. Although she felt that Marcus was acting a little strange, she didn't think much of it.
"Leave? Hahahaha, no, why should I leave here? I belong here."
Marcus laughed as his hair grew longer and his clothes slowly changed.
Until he was wearing a red cheongsam, his long black hair was piled on top of his head, and his face was not clearly visible.
Hands emerged from the sleeves; they were fair, slender, and clearly belonged to a woman.
"Damn it, so Marcus isn't the real Marcus, but the woman from the ghost painting!" Sun Rui hid to the side, watching this scene with a sense of dread.
He quickly controlled himself and stopped thinking about the woman's face.
However, Sun Rui underestimated the woman in the ghost painting. Although she was surrounded by ghostly haze and the realm of burning ghosts, she still saw through him at a glance.
"Interesting, you actually managed to control two vengeful ghosts that had crashed," the woman said.
"Are you a human or a ghost?" Sun Rui no longer concealed his location and revealed it.
"Does it matter? Human or ghost, I am still me." A trace of sadness appeared on the woman's face.
"So you're the one controlling all of this? And you're the real owner of this gray brick apartment, aren't you?" Sun Rui asked.
"You could say that, haha, you're very clever, and I sensed some familiar supernatural energy about you," the woman laughed.
"Damn, this post office is a real pain. Delivering mail to such an old monster, who can handle it?" Sun Rui thought to himself.
"Senior has just woken up. Is there something you need to accomplish?" Sun Rui asked.
"Hehe, it's nothing serious. I'm just looking for some old friends to catch up. Don't be too nervous. I roughly know what you do for a living," the woman said with a smile.
"I'll be back when it's time. Wait for me here."
After the woman finished speaking, she disappeared along with the entire ghost realm.
