Chapter 514 Sirius Returns
Harry was pleased that Professor McGonagall had taken his words seriously.
The group arrived together in front of the dripping stone beast. The password was changed to "Sizzling Honeybee Candy." Professor McGonagall read out the password and was the first to step onto the spiral staircase behind it.
Whether Dumbledore had woken up or hadn't slept at all, when the group entered the headmaster's office, he was talking to someone in a portrait.
"I'll leave this to you, Evra."
"No problem, Dumbledore." The man vanished from the picture frame in a flash.
Then Dumbledore turned around, and Harry quickly told him about the scene he had dreamed about.
"Something must have happened to Sirius," Harry said anxiously. "We'd better hurry and get him."
"I understand you, Harry." Dumbledore slowly stood up, his deep blue eyes looking at Harry through the lenses on his nose.
"However, Sirius leaving school was actually my arrangement, and according to the information I received, he was not harmed in any way."
"But I saw it!" Harry said, a little annoyed. He didn't understand why the professors were taking so long to grasp it. And Dumbledore, he knew perfectly well that he wasn't dreaming.
"Well, it seems I really need to ask again." Dumbledore found a very old wizard among the many portraits.
"Armando, I need you to run into your other portrait again and see if our Defense Against the Dark Arts professor has been attacked."
"Of course, I'll go right now."
Armando Dippet has also disappeared.
A few minutes later, he reappeared in the picture frame, but his expression was not good.
"He's perfectly fine, Dumbledore, and he'll be back soon."
As he spoke, he gave Harry a stern look.
"Ha, that's why I don't like being a teacher." The person in the other portrait opened his eyes, and Phineas Nigellus Black said in a sticky voice, "Young people always think they're absolutely right, and they get furious when others raise the slightest question."
Harry blushed instantly.
He knew that Principal Phineas was mocking his impatient tone towards Dumbledore earlier, but he couldn't refute it.
But he couldn't understand why, even though he clearly saw Sirius being tortured with the Cruciatus Curse, Armando Dippet said he was perfectly fine. Was he really overthinking it—but Dumbledore had taken the previous two dreams that caused him such excruciating pain very seriously?
Harry's mind was in a mess, and he had no time to pay attention to Phineas's sarcastic remarks.
It was Dumbledore who stopped him.
"In comparison, I am much happier to hear that Professor Blake is safe and sound."
Dumbledore waved his hand, and a cup of sweet hot cocoa appeared in front of Harry and Siron.
"If you'd like, you can wait here for a while. I think Professor Black should be back soon."
Harry didn't seem to have much of an appetite; he just sat there, looking distracted and lost in thought.
Xiren picked up the cup of hot cocoa. He had been woken up early in the morning and really needed something to perk himself up.
But he only took one sip and put the cup back.
It was too sweet, completely different from anything he'd had before. It lacked the bitterness that chocolate should have, and tasted more like a cup of hot syrup; one sip and it went straight down his throat.
Silence fell over the headmaster's office again. Harry didn't speak, and the portraits continued to pretend to be asleep. The only sound was the scratching of Dumbledore's quill as he wrote his letter on parchment.
Moreover, he didn't use an owl. After he finished writing the letter, the phoenix that had been perched on the branch flew over, grabbed the letter, and disappeared in a flash.
"In an emergency, Fawkes can deliver the letter much faster," Dumbledore explained to Harry with a smile.
Just then, there was a knock on the door.
Professor McGonagall, who had just left, returned again, bringing Ron with her, who was panting heavily.
"Harry—" he called out eagerly as soon as he entered, "Sirius is back! I just saw him in the foyer; Filch was complaining about him!"
"That would be wonderful," Dumbledore said with a smile.
Harry breathed a sigh of relief and looked at Dumbledore somewhat embarrassedly.
"Principal, I—I'm sorry, I thought—"
"I understand your thoughts, Harry," Dumbledore said nonchalantly. "There's no harm in being cautious in these matters, but I suggest you don't tell Sirius about your nightmares."
"Otherwise, given how much he cares about you, he'd probably feel very guilty."
"Why is Sirius blaming himself?" Ron asked, puzzled.
"I blame myself for leaving the school at this time," Dumbledore said.
Harry thought about it and realized that Dumbledore's words made sense.
And since it was just a false alarm, there's no need to worry him any further.
Harry still remembers how nervous he was when he first told Sirius Black about his dream of a dozen snakes giving birth to a baby.
Since it was a false alarm, there's no need to say anything more and cause Sirius any more trouble, is there?
So when Harry left the headmaster's office and found Sirius, he only said that he was so excited about the upcoming holidays that he couldn't sleep and that's why he came to find him.
"It's all my fault," Sirius said, his face pale, as if he had been chilled.
"You must have been really worried when you found out I wasn't in the office," Sirius said. "And you even kicked Filch's cat, which I've always wanted to do."
"Indeed, there's a bit of a rush—" Harry said vaguely.
But did he kick Filch's cat, Mrs. Lorris?
How come he has no recollection of it at all?
Never mind, it's not important.
"Where did you go?" Harry asked.
"Do Dumbledore a small favor," Sirius said. "He wants to find a secluded place. It's not a big deal, but it requires someone absolutely trustworthy to do it."
"A hidden place?" Harry asked疑惑地. "Is Headmaster Dumbledore going to hide something?"
I guess so.
"Why not Hogwarts?" Harry asked.
When he was a first-year student, Dumbledore hid the Philosopher's Stone in the school and set up several obstacles to overcome it.
"Of course not, after all, he needs to find the location of the Order of the Phoenix headquarters," Sirius said with a smile.
"The Order of the Phoenix?"
"An organization led by Dumbledore that rebelled against the Dark Lord," Sirius said. "More than a decade ago, the Order of the Phoenix was the Death Eaters' greatest adversary. After the Dark Lord's downfall, Dumbledore could have used the power of the Order of the Phoenix to become Minister for Magic, but he didn't. Instead, he resolutely disbanded the organization."
"Oh, actually I shouldn't be telling you this, but you certainly won't tell anyone else, right?"
