Chapter 80 The World of LEGO Bricks - 7
Ghost Spider: "God, this is just... this is so amazing and cool. You know me? I always thought we were just street heroes, but I never imagined we'd be responsible for protecting so many universes."
Gwen: "Now I'm a Guardian. I heard it wasn't always like this."
Ghost Spider: "What was it like before?"
Gwen: "The fate of all the previous Spider Web worlds was predetermined, and no one could change it. Otherwise, the altered world would be erased, and it might even affect other universes."
The Ghost Spider exclaimed, "It's like... like an ended story? Even knowing what tragic things are about to happen, you can only watch it unfold?"
Gwen: "Yes, that's exactly it."
Ghost Spider: "Wow, this is terrifying. Who changed all of this?"
Gwen: "A very, very special Gwen. She, no, He is a thirty-six-winged archangel, the embodiment of Metatron, the Beyonder, and the guardian of the Web of Life and Fate and all Spider-Men."
(PS: This is a personal setting based on the author's first book, "Clerics in American Comics." Don't worry, it won't be described in detail; it's just a similar background.)
Ghost Spider: "Wow, amazing! Have you ever seen it?"
Gwen: "No, none of us have seen Him. He is not in our multiverse, but His power is protecting us."
Gwen heard these things from another ghost spider, and she was very surprised when she heard them.
After the initial shock came envy—not envy of how powerful the other person was, but envy that their parents were still alive.
Ghost Spider grumbled, "Ugh, even Peter got to join the Alliance, but they don't want me!"
She attended Midtown High School, where Peter Parker and Mary Jane were her classmates.
This world isn't just about Ghost Spider; there's also Spider-Man.
After investigating, she discovered that her best friend Peter Parker was Spider-Man. She had always thought that Peter didn't know that he was Ghost Spider. Every time she saw him make lame excuses for why he was late or disappeared halfway, she secretly rejoiced. But who knew that the guy was also playing himself!
Peter, you just wait. I'll beat you up when we meet at school tomorrow, unless you share your watch with me. I won't forgive you!
Ghost Spider: "I've been out for a long time. I need to go back to the lab, otherwise Mary and the others will suspect me."
What are you two going to do? Yesterday, Peter captured the Green Goblin, and the Green Goblin's secret laboratory fell into Peter's hands.
I know the address. Why don't you go there first, and I'll come find you after get off work?
"Okay, huh~?" Gwen had barely opened her mouth when she and Ghost Spider's spider sensed danger. The two of them froze for a moment, and then came the sound of breaking glass below, along with the panicked screams of a group of people.
Gwen and Bana ran to the edge of the building and looked down. They saw a large hole in the glass curtain wall, which was more than ten meters high, and the screams were coming from there.
Ghost Spider: "What happened? Has there been an experimental accident?"
Among the screams was Mary Jane's voice. Could that be the lab she was in just now?
Bana pointed to the road below and said, "Look, there's a Spider-Man vehicle coming down there! Is that Spider-Man?"
Below the building, a red and blue eight-legged block vehicle is clinging to the building wall and climbing rapidly upwards. The block figure driving it also has red and blue patterns on its exterior.
Ghost Spider: "That's Spider-Man! What a cool spider-car! Looks like we're really in trouble."
Gwen: "Do you need our help?"
Gwen hesitated. It wasn't a big deal if Bana made a move, but her uniform and abilities were the same as Ghost Spider's. If the two of them appeared together, it might cause trouble for Ghost Spider.
Ghost Spider had also thought of this, and she quickly said, "I'll use my real identity to help Jane and the others in the lab, and you can use mine to solve the problem."
Gwen: "No problem."
Just as he finished speaking, an explosion was heard from the laboratory below, and the building shook.
Gwen knew something was wrong, so she immediately put on the hood and pulled Bana down with her.
After descending to a certain height, Gwen raised her hand and shot out a spider silk that stuck to the curtain wall. She then pushed off the curtain wall with both feet and swayed, throwing herself and Bana into the laboratory.
Chaos reigned in the laboratory. A black, blocky figure with many tentacles on its back stood in the blasted-out vault, reaching out to grab a T-shaped object emitting a purple glow.
Gwen: "Hey buddy, didn't your teacher teach you not to steal?"
"Who dares to speak to Lord Venom like that?!" Venom was furious upon hearing this. It lowered its hand and turned around. Then, a ball of spider silk was smeared on its face, and then a strong force came, and it was caught off guard and was pulled into the air.
"Spider-Man!" Venom roared. It couldn't see people, but having its face constantly covered in spider webs, it was all too familiar with those pesky webs.
"Sorry, you guessed wrong!" Bana stepped forward, grabbed one of Venom's arms, turned around and slammed it to the ground, then pinned it to its back and swung her flaming fists at it.
"Ah~" Venom let out a shrill scream, its body shrinking at a visible speed.
Venom's tentacles moved together, grabbing Bana and throwing her away with all their might. Then Venom flipped himself up, not caring who the enemy was or how to grab the T-shaped security key, and rushed toward the gap in the curtain wall at top speed.
The key, the destruction of the city and the attack on Spider-Man—all of that was thrown to the back of his mind at that moment.
Flames are its fatal weakness; those flames are terrifying. If it gets caught and burned for a while longer, it will die.
"Come back here!" Gwen couldn't let Venom get away, so she quickly raised her hand and shot a spider silk at Venom.
This time, Venom, fully on guard, was prepared. It quickly dodged to the side, and its unwavering web continued to fly forward, eventually slapping Spider-Man, who was arriving in his Spider-Vehicle, right in the face.
The little spider was startled: "Wow, is this your welcoming ceremony?"
"Spider-Man!" Venom was a little confused when he saw Spider-Man coming up from below. Spider-Man had just arrived, so who was the person behind him using webs?
Who cares who he is? Let's get out of here first.
With that thought, Venom reached into his body and pulled out two pumpkin bombs, throwing one behind him and the other at Spider-Man in front of him.
"Watch out!" Spider-Man shouted to Gwen, while simultaneously maneuvering his Spider-Man suit to dodge the pumpkin bombs.
"Spider Shield!" Gwen exclaimed softly, stretching out her hands. A magical shield with a white spider depicted in the center appeared and protected her.
Boom, boom...
