"boom--"
The sound of the billiard balls hitting the glass pierced through the murmurs and attracted Su's attention.
Su nudged Andy on the shoulder: "Looks like we're in luck."
Andy looked over and saw a man in a dark shirt playing pool with locals. There was money on the pool table, so they were probably betting on the game.
"boom!"
Bending over and swinging precisely, James Conrad pocketed the last ball cleanly and neatly, then stood up and reached for his money.
But his opponent grabbed his hand and rattled off a bunch of Yue dialect.
Behind James Conrad, a local man slowly approached, holding a fruit bag for $490.
Clearly, these two locals are in cahoots; they're probably the kind of local bullies who can't be messed with.
With a stubble beard and a cold gaze, James Conrad suddenly smashed his golf club into the face of the person grabbing him.
boom!
The man slammed his fist on the pool table, and the cue stick broke with a snap.
Without hesitation, James Conrad turned around and smashed the attacker, who was raising his knife and swinging his arm, with the broken half of his golf club.
"boom!"
The attacker didn't even have a chance to put on the Pain Mask before being knocked unconscious and falling to the ground.
From start to finish, the entire process was swift and efficient, taking very little time, showing that James Conrad was already used to this kind of fighting.
The surrounding guests have gotten used to it.
The bartenders dragged the two unconscious men away and threw them out. James Conrad, holding the money, calmly prepared to leave.
"Rolling..." A fist-sized gold nugget was thrown onto the pool table.
James Conrad stopped, glanced at the gold nugget, and turned to look at Sue and Andy who were walking over.
This man wasn't a local; he was probably from the East. His clothes were very ordinary, but the fabric and material were something that ordinary people couldn't afford.
This is a wealthy Asian!
As for this woman, putting aside her figure and appearance, her clothing and demeanor gave James Conrad a sense of 'kindness'.
They're probably not soldiers.
Killer?
bodyguard?
Or perhaps, mercenaries!
A wealthy Eastern man, accompanied by a European and American female bodyguard, appeared in a bar in Yue Nan, embracing a retired British soldier. What was his purpose?
James Conrad instantly analyzed the situation of the two men, and then, under the greedy gazes around him, picked up the gold nugget: "Whatever you want to do with it, it's mine now?"
Mr. Su shrugged noncommittally.
"This is a bit of a problem." James Conrad smiled as he put away the gold nuggets, but he became increasingly wary.
The fact that he would give away a gold nugget the size of a fist so easily suggests either that what he was about to do was extremely dangerous, or that he was certain he couldn't take the gold with him.
In a relatively quiet corner, Sue and Andy, who had ordered a few drinks, sat opposite James Conrad.
"Let me make this clear first, I'm not risking my life!"
Before Sue could even speak, James Conrad cut the conversation short.
Su chuckled and shook her head: "Everyone and everything has already been priced. The key is whether you have enough leverage to get it."
“A group of people are going to explore an unknown island, and the person in charge will ask you to be their guide. If you agree, I hope you can take us with you.”
“What if I refuse?” James Conrad asked.
Su shrugged: "Then let's pretend we were never here."
"That piece of gold..."
"This is a gift for us to meet, whether you accept it or not. However, if you choose to accept it, I will express my gratitude in another way."
James Conrad took a deep breath: "I still have a few questions. Who are these people? Why did they come to me? What's on that island? And why did you get to that island this way?"
“You have many questions. If there’s a chance, I’ll tell you slowly.” Su stood up, patted James Conrad on the shoulder, and smiled as she led Andy away.
James Conrad frowned; he had a feeling that this mysterious guy had some ill intentions, and this job was probably dangerous.
"can we talk?"
Just as James Conrad was pondering for a while and preparing to leave, two men sat down in the seats that Sue and Andy had just occupied.
James Conrad frowned as he listened to the two men introduce themselves.
The man in the lead was an elderly white man who identified himself as Will Bill Landa.
The young Black man next to him was his assistant, named Houston Brooks.
Clearly, they knew who James Conrad was, and after introducing themselves, they explained why they were looking for him.
James Conrad grew increasingly surprised as he listened, not by what they were saying, but by the guy who had just left!
He said someone would ask him to investigate an unknown island, but no sooner had he left than the person arrived.
Coincidence... or a deliberately mysterious arrangement?
"An unknown island. Let me tell you how you might die."
"Heavy rain, heat, mudslides, and flies and mosquitoes carrying pathogens can be addressed by getting vaccinated in advance, but what about other unknown pathogens?"
"I haven't even mentioned those ferocious beasts that want to eat you alive."
Will Bill Landa: "I'll give you double the price."
James Conrad said calmly, "You have no idea how dangerous this is. I want five times the price! And if we come back safely, there will be an extra charge!"
“If…if…?” The black assistant, Houston Brooks, looked bewildered for a moment before realizing what he meant.
This unknown adventure was not as safe as he imagined; the chances of returning safely were not high.
“Give it to him. I think Mr. Conrad is worth the price,” said Houston Brooks, the black assistant, earnestly.
Will Bill Landa agreed: "Then wish us a safe return."
"I have a question. You've asked me to be a stalker, but what am I supposed to stalk? People or animals?"
"We don't know yet. We don't have maps, only satellite images, which is why we need you. We need your skills, your ability to traverse the jungle, to lead us to find it!"
“We are just scientists and scholars, and we need people with field experience, just in case.”
The two of them told each other about the mission without hiding anything.
Of course, the so-called lack of concealment only means that some things were not concealed. After all, both of them belong to the Monarch organization, and the reason they went to the unknown island was to investigate related possibilities.

Chapter 527 Titans and Fantastic Beasts
A few days later, a U.S. cruiser was sailing in the Indian Ocean.
In the cruiser's conference room, a satellite field supervisor named Victor Neve was introducing the mission via projector.
"Hello, I am Victor Neve, the on-site supervisor for the satellite. We are going to a place that people have avoided since ancient times."
"Satellite data shows that this area is surrounded by a storm system, so it has always been isolated from the outside world."
As he spoke, satellite images of 'Skull Island' were displayed one by one on the screen.
"But with Colonel Packard's helicopter, we can get through that storm."
Colonel Packard, a Black Air Force commander, would have already returned to the United States with his unit and been able to go home if it weren't for this mission.
Incidentally, the Su family also gave this guy a code name: 'Director Egg'!
Loki, Captain Marvel, Nick Fury, and Scarlet Witch Amy—this isn't the Godzilla Monsters universe, it's the Marvel Cinematic Universe!
“We are delighted to have Mr. Landa’s expedition team join us.”
Victor Neve turned to the side and began to introduce himself.
William Bill 14 Landa, the one who recruited 'Loki,' is also a member of Monarch, or one of its leaders.
He was a white man, older, somewhat obese, and his beard was already turning white.
"And of course, there's the biologist, Ms. Shan."
Ms. Shan is none other than the well-known Jing Tian, but unfortunately, the introduction was rushed.
Shan is not a surname, it should be a given name.
Ms. Shan's full name is still unknown.
"And the geologist, Mr. Brooks."
Houston Brooks, a Black man, is Landa's assistant.
And that concludes the introductions; 'Loki' James Conrad, standing to the side, clearly doesn't deserve a name.
Su and Andy, who participated under the guise of his assistants, naturally didn't deserve any mention.
"Our focus is on what's on top of the island, and what's underneath."
"Mr. Brooks."
Houston Brooks, who was called out, stepped forward: "It's actually very simple. We set up a few explosion points, create some vibrations, and then use the sound waves to map the island."
Pointing to a map of Skull Island, Houston Brooks continued, "We fly to the southern part of the island and drop a seismic device, which helps us determine the soil density in this area."
“You’re going to drop bombs,” James Conrad said.
"This is just a scientific tool."
"Did you hear that, guys? We're scientists now." One of the soldiers at the meeting joked with the others.
