"The reason I am visiting you all today is simply to do a preliminary review."
Kidd said calmly,
"I have no intention of taking that pearl tonight."
"What?" Nakamori, sensing something was wrong, began to tense up.
Isn't this kid scared?
With so many police officers present in such a confined space, how could he possibly escape?
"The notice clearly told you that."
Kidd launched the glider under everyone's watchful eyes.
"April Fool's Day is April Fool's Day, so the announcement on it is obviously fake."
"Don't let him get away, catch him!"
Nakamori and his men were about to charge forward.
But suddenly, a flashbang fell out of Kidd's sleeve.
The sudden flash of light caused everyone to cover their eyes.
As Conan was blinded by the light, he heard Kid say, "If the phantom thief is a highly skilled and creative artist, then the detective is just a critic who follows behind the phantom thief and nitpicks."
what?
Upon hearing Kid's words, Conan was instantly enraged.
But when his vision returned, during those brief few seconds when he couldn't see, Kidd had vanished.
"Helicopter radar search! We must find him!!" Inspector Nakamori roared angrily.
impossible!
How exactly did he manage to disappear?
Conan looked at the dark night sky; apart from a few helicopters, the white shadow had completely disappeared.
"Are you trying to make us laugh to death?!"
As everyone was engrossed in the mysterious disappearance, a sharp laugh reached their ears.
"Just one flashbang, not Shinra Tensei, and nobody dares to charge forward?"
Ok?
Conan and the police officers turned around in the direction of the sound and saw a masked person sitting cross-legged on the roof of a small house, looking at them with amusement.
"You? Who are you?!" Inspector Nakamori stepped forward from the crowd. "When did you get here?"
"Me? My name doesn't matter." The masked man smiled mysteriously. "Don't you want to know where Kidd went?"
"Kidd?"
Nakamori was immediately drawn to the topic of Kid.
"Where did Kidd go?"
"Haven't you figured out why Kid called you all here, Inspector Nakamori?"
The masked man pointed to the helicopter hovering in the sky.
"People always think that light will drive out darkness and make it nowhere to hide. Unfortunately, you are not used to being suddenly exposed to such strong light in the darkness."
"What do you mean?" Nakamori demanded loudly.
Hey, why are you arguing with him at a time like this?
Hurry up and go find Kidd!
Looking at Inspector Nakamori, who had just displayed wisdom, Conan couldn't help but feel a sense of powerlessness.
"Under these circumstances, how many people can clearly transmit what their eyes see to their brains and calmly analyze and judge it?"
The masked man tapped his temples a few times with his index finger.
"At least you didn't notice that there was an extra person among the officers who rushed up who shouldn't have been there."
Hey, isn't that you who suddenly appeared here?
Conan had already recognized Matsuda's voice.
As he was mentally berating Matsuda, a sudden inspiration struck him, and he exclaimed in surprise.
"You mean... Kidd mingled with the crowd on the rooftop?"
"Yes."
The masked man, Matsuda, said smugly.
"Your first task is to guard the stairwell and have the people downstairs set up a cordon to prevent anyone from entering or leaving. On the roof, two people should stand in pairs, holding hands and restraining each other, and then check them one by one. Kidd will definitely be caught."
"I think we don't need to go through all that trouble."
Nakamori's voice rang out from the buzzing discussion that had begun at Matsuda's suggestion.
"In my opinion, this strange guy who suddenly appeared is more like Phantom Thief Kid! Everyone, rush up and grab him!"
eh?
When did I speak?
As Inspector Nakamori moved closer to Matsuda with the flow of people, he couldn't help but fall into deep thought.
Holy crap! What's going on?
Matsuda, seeing the police rushing towards him, immediately understood Kid's plan.
He wore a mask because he had a falling out with Section 2 after arresting thieves a few times, so he wanted to disguise himself this time.
Seeing the actions of the Second Division officers, he had no choice but to quickly remove his mask.
Chapter 237 Robbing a bank is so easy!
"Hey! Keep it down, I'm Officer Matsuda from the First Investigation Division, my ID is on me."
While evading the pursuit of the Second Division officers, Matsuda reached out to retrieve his identification.
"Everyone saw it, he resisted arrest, he's a fake Officer Matsuda, he must be Kid!"
Inspector Nakamori's voice came from the crowd again.
Damn, he's a master of voice changing.
Matsuda was secretly furious; as the saying goes, even two fists can't beat four hands.
After a brief period of resistance, Matsuda was eventually subdued.
In fact, given his physique, he could easily have shaken off the numerous Second Division officers pinning him down with a bit of force.
But now that we're on the roof, if we accidentally throw the police officer off, that would be a real problem.
With his hands tied, he was finally subdued by officers from the Second Division.
"Heh heh, Kidd, I've finally caught you!"
Inspector Nakamori squatted down in front of Matsuda and started tearing at Matsuda's face.
He quickly realized it was his real face, not a disguise, and froze.
"I've said it so many times,"
Matsuda pushed away the Second Division officer who was pulling at him, and pulled out his Metropolitan Police Department badge.
"I am Matsuda Jinpei from the First Investigation Division. I received a tip that Kaito Kid would be here tonight, so I came to check it out."
A tip? You're not talking about me, are you?
Conan, listening to Matsuda's nonsense, had a strange thought.
What does he take me for?!
"Matsuda?"
After checking the identification and confirming that the man in front of him was indeed a detective from the Metropolitan Police Department, Nakamori felt extremely uncomfortable.
That damn First Division is trying to interfere in our Second Division's cases again?
"Hey, when did you get up here? My men have been waiting down here since this afternoon. How did you get up here?" Nakamori asked with a gloomy expression.
"That's easy, of course we do it when you're changing shifts." Matsuda answered his question. "You've assigned 27 people to this building, in groups of nine, rotating every hour."
what?
Nakamori's face darkened even more after Matsuda so easily revealed his plans.
"Impossible! My men are all highly experienced officers; they won't be so easily bypassed by you."
“But the truth is, I got up here with ease,” Matsuda said, brushing the dust off his clothes. “It’s a shame that I just taught you how to catch people, and now, Kidd has definitely taken advantage of the chaos to escape.”
"What do you mean?" Nakamori was still a little confused.
“Sigh,” Matsuda sighed, “There are helicopters in the sky, so Kidd certainly wouldn’t run from there. That flashbang was just his cover. While you all had your eyes closed, that guy had already infiltrated your ranks using his disguise.”
"What?" Nakamori exclaimed in realization. "Quick, check the people around you!"
"What's the point of doing this now? While you were arresting me, that guy must have already escaped in the chaos!" Matsuda said speechlessly. "The two orders given in the crowd just now were for this purpose."
So that's how it is. Nakamori finally realized that he had been tricked by Kid.
Matsuda did not pursue the matter further regarding Kid.
That very evening, Inspector Nakamori called Megure to protest.
Helpless, Megure could only remind Matsuda not to continue interfering in Section 2's cases.
Matsuda had only gone out of curiosity to join in the fun, so he naturally didn't have much dissatisfaction.
......
The next day at noon, Matsuda sat in his Metropolitan Police Department office, just opening the lunch that Hoshino Terumi had prepared for him.
Then I saw Takagi rush into the first division office in a panic.
