Chapter 351 - 344: Yama’s Roll Call, the Next Lucky Sea Beast
Chapter 351 - 344: Yama’s Roll Call, the Next Lucky Sea Beast
After the Eye of the World evolved into the Eye of Destiny, it would occasionally provide some related intelligence about the future.
This time, however, the future-related intelligence it provided seemed to carry a hint of metaphysics—
[In the future, Tutankhamun’s Golden Mask may be of great help to you, or it may not.]
Shi Ming cursed inwardly.
’Isn’t that the same as saying nothing at all?’
’It’s one or the other—either it helps, or it doesn’t. There’s no other possibility, is there?’
The intelligence from the Eye of Destiny ended there.
Shi Ming continued to use the Brain of Creation, aiming it at this peculiar object. Having too many skills meant he could do whatever he wanted.
[Tutankhamun’s Golden Mask]
[Level: 10]
[Wear it, and you can walk freely in the kingdom of death. But be warned, if you stay too long in a place of deathly silence, your living characteristics will also disappear.]
[Cannot be upgraded again.]
[Infinite Upgrade Requirements: S-rank Death-attribute Sea Beast Flesh and Blood x20 kg; S-rank Death-attribute Skill Origin x1 (or the entire blood volume of 10 A-rank Death-attribute Sea Beasts)]
Shi Ming shook his head.
’None of these infinite upgrades are simple.’
In his current collection, he actually did have S-rank Death-attribute Sea Beast Flesh and Blood.
The Netherworld Feathered Serpent from the Pharaoh was a Death-attribute sea beast, but its Skill Origin had dissipated with Jia Fang’s death. To perform the infinite upgrade, he either had to slay another S-rank sea beast and consume its Origin, or kill 10 A-rank sea beasts and use all of their blood.
’I’ll make do with it for now.’
’I’ll deal with it later.’
Besides, even without Breaking the Boundary, this Tutankhamun’s Golden Mask was still quite useful.
Back in the Land Era, it would have been the ace of the criminal investigation world! For any difficult-to-solve murder cases, one would only need to wear it to replay the last three seconds of the deceased’s life!
And in the Wandering Era, the ability to completely conceal one’s life aura was also incredibly useful.
Many deep-sea S-rank sea beasts, and even Holy Hall-level Sea Beasts, could only detect enemies through their life auras. Shielding one’s life aura was equivalent to perfect invisibility.
Shi Ming also hadn’t forgotten that of the three remaining Holy Hall-level Sea Beasts, one of their Holy Hall Origins was "Death." If the Golden Mask was going to be a great help in the future, perhaps it would be when he faced that Death Sanctuary sea beast.
He put the mask away.
’Time is tight.’
It was time to find his next prey.
Currently, on the Endless Ocean, the Skill Origins of the three remaining Holy Hall-level Sea Beasts were Death, Destiny, and Eternal.
Among them, the Eternal Origin was confirmed to belong to the "Immortal Evil Eye." Back on Fujing Mountain, the Lighthouse’s S-rank Awakened, "Virus," had once used the Naked Eye Roulette to cast "Eternal Sanctuary." This powerful skill unleashed a disintegration ray that broke down all organic matter into its most basic components, assimilating it and achieving true eternity at a molecular level.
Judging from the location where the Lighthouse found its shed skin, this Holy Hall-level Sea Beast was suspected to be at the old site of the Great Salt Lake in the America Sea Area.
By process of elimination, the locations of the remaining "Death" and "Destiny" beasts became obvious.
The Fichaz Sea Abyss or the Amazon Earth’s Lung.
’Which one should be the next target?’
’Destiny, Eternal, or Death?’
’It seems there’s no real difference.’
’Why not just roll the dice? After obtaining the Eye of Destiny, Shi Ming sometimes wanted to see what "Destiny" itself would choose.’
This wasn’t because he was getting arrogant after gaining some power, nor was it recklessness.
At present, very little was known about how to kill the three sea beasts or the requirements to obtain their skills. Choosing where to go first was just deciding on the first stop. Once he arrived in the relevant sea region, Shi Ming would gather more detailed intelligence before deciding whether to engage. Even a lion uses its full strength to catch a rabbit; he couldn’t afford to be completely capricious or leave a Holy Hall Tier battle to fate.
He was just adding a little fun to the process—
The random method was simple.
He would perform a Descent of the Titan transformation. If the Titan’s pointer stopped between the fourth and sixth slots, he would go to the old Great Salt Lake site in the Great Western Sea Region. If it stopped between the seventh and ninth slots, he would go to the Fichaz Sea Abyss in the Mariana Trench. If it stopped between the tenth and third slots, he would go to the Earth’s Lung in the Amazon Sea Region.
Because the 11th slot, the "Wheel of Destiny," had been extracted and couldn’t be selected, the probability of these three outcomes was exactly the same.
One-third for each.
Even a hunt required a sense of ceremony.
He felt like Yama calling the roll as he mobilized the Titan Power within his body.
An ancient clock once again appeared simultaneously in his pupils and behind him. It ticked incessantly, the hand sweeping past the first half of the face and continuing on. Within three seconds, it had completed a full rotation, finally stopping at the twelfth o’clock position.
In an instant, Shi Ming’s pupils turned from black to azure. A sea-god’s Trident Rune appeared on his forehead, and his hair took on a gradient of blue, becoming as ethereal as seawater.
Sea’s Sigh!
This skill from the twelfth Titan, "Tethys," could turn his body into seawater for fifty minutes, allowing him to expand and contract freely, with every organ as adjustable as water itself. His strongest killing move, however, was "Tethys’s Sigh," a skill from the Trident on his forehead that let him control endless, overlapping waves of fury for the full fifty minutes.
Its power was less than the tsunami from the Nine-Headed Sanctuary, but on its home turf in the ocean, it was definitely a powerful S-rank skill!
And according to his plan, rolling the 12th slot, Sea’s Sigh, meant that Shi Ming’s next stop was the Earth’s Lung.
The South American Andean Alliance, where the Earth’s Lung was located, was guarded by [The Spark]. It was the third deadliest place for humans on the Endless Ocean, its danger second only to the Sea of Boiling and the Great Maelstrom at their peaks. While the perennial dense fog and chaotic air currents wouldn’t kill intruders directly, they could easily cause them to become lost.
When Shi Ming had first entered the Endless Ocean, he had once stumbled into a Sea of Mist.
The source of that Sea of Mist was just a swarm of Mist Jellyfish.
The combined energy of that entire group didn’t even reach S-rank, yet it was enough to trap and disorient many wandering ships that strayed inside. The dense fog and turbulent flows of the Earth Lung Region were far worse than the Sea of Mist.
Even [The Spark] rarely set foot inside.
"I wonder what the Origin and skills of the Holy Hall Sea Beast in the Earth’s Lung will be."
"Death?"
"Or Destiny?"
To deal with a Death-attribute Holy Hall Sea Beast, Shi Ming had kept a broken branch of the Creation Celestial Pillar. He could use the Star Lamp to cast one of the Creation Celestial Pillar’s skills.
Life and death countered each other; it would surely inflict massive damage on that sea beast.
And to face a Destiny-attribute Holy Hall Sea Beast, Shi Ming had the "Eye of Destiny," which also possessed Destiny Power. In terms of standing, he was not inferior to it.
