Chapter 465 - 80: A Thousand Faces, a Thousand Minds
Chapter 465 - 80: A Thousand Faces, a Thousand Minds
True Cosmic Game, Authority Space.
Lince and the three other gods had gathered once more.
"Excellent. It seems our strikes on the three worlds went off without a hitch."
"However, this is also what’s strange. Not a single Authority Level entity under the Lord of the Black Prison has even appeared."
"Are the Breeding Stars really that insignificant to them?"
The God of All Machines seemed slightly puzzled.
"That can’t be right. We’re talking about three worlds, all at the Mid Magic Level."
"Breeding grounds like these are clearly one of the foundations for their race’s growth and expansion."
"Even if they have many such places, the number must be finite."
"As for why they haven’t sent reinforcements, I’ve actually made a discovery."
The Lezi God, the God of Thousand Faces, said with a chuckle.
"First, these guys don’t know our background, so they’re afraid to take any risks."
"After all, in their experience, who in the neighboring World Communities doesn’t know of the Black Prison Race’s power? It’s always been them attacking others; no faction has ever dared to strike at them."
"So, our sudden offensive has clearly made the higher-ups in the Black Prison Race hesitant to act for fear of walking into a trap."
As Lince and the other two gods watched, the God of Thousand Faces raised a second finger.
"Second, almost all of the thirty-six territories controlled by the Black Prison Race’s Army Commanders are currently at war with powerful civilizations and alliances in the neighboring World Communities."
"The scale of this conflict is similar to the wars between Interstellar Civilizations in a Magicless World Community. Even if the Lord of the Black Prison himself were to appear, he couldn’t possibly crush these civilizations and alliances in a short period."
"The distances in the Star Sea are measured in light-years, and a World Community is so vast that even the smallest contains hundreds of thousands of stars. Because of this, even if the Lord of the Black Prison is on the verge of becoming a Pillar God, he couldn’t possibly conquer them overnight."
At this, the God of Thousand Faces smiled again.
"Of course, beings like us don’t need to conquer that many worlds. After all, conquering too many of them wouldn’t necessarily be of much use to us."
"In fact, they’d just become a burden. That’s why we pick and choose which worlds to conquer. As long as they’re enough to meet our needs for growth, it’s sufficient."
"The Black Prison Race is clearly the same way."
"Based on my intelligence, most of the worlds the Black Prison Race currently controls are at the Mid Magic Level. They tend to ignore anything below that—Low Demon and Magicless Worlds. However, that doesn’t stop the smaller Black Prison Race legions under their command from ravaging every Life Planet they encounter."
"And in my view, Nidhogg’s Oakland World was likely a victim of one of these smaller legions."
"This would also explain why Nidhogg’s world hasn’t been invaded again in recent years."
The God of Thousand Faces’ confident analysis made Lince thoughtful.
"But, Thousand Faces, I doubt the residual Black Flame Level on Oakland World is something a small Black Prison Race legion could produce."
The God of Thousand Faces was momentarily stunned, then smiled.
"Of course not. After all, I’ve also seen the residual Black Flame on Oakland World."
"The lingering traces of that Black Flame are undoubtedly from the Power of the Lord of the Black Prison."
"It just means that the smaller legions likely have the ability to summon a projection of the Lord of the Black Prison’s Power."
"A legion is a combat unit, after all. They’re nothing like the rear-guard garrison we just faced."
"So, in my opinion, it’s not that hard to understand."
"Nidhogg’s world proved to be a tough nut to crack for that small Black Prison Race legion. So, after likely suffering heavy losses, they summoned the Power of the Lord of the Black Prison."
"So, after eliminating whatever was causing them trouble, the heavily damaged legion must have abandoned any follow-up operations."
"Besides, as I just mentioned, the regions surrounding the Black Prison Race’s home World Community are not peaceful. These legions can be conscripted to any number of frontlines at a moment’s notice."
"So naturally, they wouldn’t project their power into a World Community so far away."
Lince finally understood.
He finally understood why the Oakland Continent had been spared for all these years.
’Still, to be honest, that small Black Prison Race legion must have held a serious grudge. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have tried to come after the Oakland Continent through the Star Road three times.’
’During their last attempt, the small Black Prison Race legion even directly or indirectly wiped out all the Deities on the Oakland Continent.’
’Not even the previous generation of the Dragon Race was spared.’
’Truly, the Oakland Continent’s ultimate survival was thanks to the sacrifices of the remaining Deities.’
’They were the ones who sacrificed everything to seal the Star Road and even interfere with the enemy’s Power anchoring to the Oakland World.’
’Oakland Continent was, at least, a world on the higher end of the Mid Magic Level. By the Deities sacrificing everything and leveraging the contractual Power of the True Game, it was actually possible for them to achieve this.’
’Otherwise, an Oakland Continent that had lost the protection of the Dragon Race and lacked a Star God would have had absolutely no way of interfering with the Descent of a Black Prison Race that had already obtained its coordinates.’
’Even if the process was more difficult for them, given the power the Black Prison Race has now, even a small legion would have been unstoppable for the native Deities of the Oakland Continent.’
