Chapter 147: FRIDA - 147
Chapter 147: FRIDA - 147
Frida’s pov:
"She’s alive" the physician assured them, "but the weapon used to pierce her has a very precise aim to pierce the heart. You are very lucky she saved you, if not it would be a tragedy."
Mary held her hand "I hope she will survive."
"She will survive, but that shoulder injury may never heal, it’s a miracle she’s alive. The blade was also poisoned." the physician said then bow.
"Thank you, for your help." Lord Warris said as he left.
She was still slightly conscious, subtly hearing the conversation between Lord Warris and Lord Eric.
The room got brighter and she opened her eyes.
Grey walls, a beeping monitor
She was back in the hospital for a moment, she was staring outside the window.
Her body was conscious but her mind wasn’t. She was completely dissociated.
"Hello?" she said but the nurse didn’t hear her because her body never physically moved.
She gasped awake to see Mary dip a cloth in water and squeeze before placing it on her head.
"You are awake?" Mary smiled, touching her cheek "I’m glad...I was scared I lost you."
Mary trailed her hand from her face to the injury on her shoulder "You saved us...you are our hero."
She caught Mary’s hand "Lady Mary, I feel you are harbouring affections towards me."
Mary stared at her for a long time "Is it obvious?" She held her wrist tight but Mary still trailed her fingers on her check.
Then her thumb on her lips "Yes....I do have feelings for you...is that so wrong?"
She shook her head "You can’t."
"Is it because you are a woman or because you do not feel any affection towards me?" Mary asked shifting closer.
"Mary." Her voice was strained.
"Is it so wrong to love y..." she placed her finger tips on Mary’s lips to stop her from finishing her sentence.
Mary kisses her fingers and says "Yes, I fell in love with you at first sight."
Her breath hitched fearing someone would actually hear her "What you are saying could literally ruin my life lady Mary, your life, your whole family. You simply cannot say such things at this time."
"Then in another time... would you love me in another time?" she asked, her eyes gleaming with hope.
"You don’t have to answer, I’ll get more cold water." Mary said and left with her ears red.
She sighed looking at the window, she was home for a moment.
For a moment this nightmare was over, she stood up and winced from the pain in her shoulder.
"That was a pretty stupid thing you did, jumping in like that." Snowflake’s voice startled her, "You could have died."
"How did you get in here?" she whispered in shock.
"You’ve already forgotten you are a spy? You are busy risking your life, drawing attention to yourself, falling in love and planning bloody marriages." Snowflake sneered in disgust.
"It’s not what it looks like." she said.
"It’s exactly what it looks like, you’ve failed. You’ve been here 24hours and have accomplished nothing but almost getting your ass killed." He shot at her.
She glared at him, her hand balling into a fist "I am handling it, I don’t need your help. I’ve managed to gain their trust with my act of saving them. Plus there’s no instruction for my mission yet so stop being a pain in the rear."
They heard voices outside the room door and she quickly pushed him towards the opposite window "Get out of here before you ruin my hard earned victory, after I almost died."
"Don’t be reckless, you could really die next time." He muttered.
"Are you worried about me?" she smirked and he scoffed.
"Master Song is worried, don’t stress him out, lay low and don’t be such a pest." he snapped just as the doors opened and she pushed him out of the window.
He landed in the flower bush and she turned to see Mary struggling with a bowl. "Are you okay? she asked, noticing her at the window.
"Great, it’s just hot in here." She said moving to the bed. "I’m thirsty."
"I’ll get you some water." Mary said, setting the bowl down.
"No, I can go myself or be a servant." She suggested.
"Nevermind, I insist." Mary said beaming as she left the room and shut the door behind her.
She sighed lying back into the bed, it was the only furniture in the small room.
It was probably the madams room and she would be pissed that she was sleeping in her sheets.
"You will not marry her to my son, it’s better you marry her off to your bastard!" she heard lady Kim’s venomous voice from the window.
Marry? she frowned puzzled about the conversation.
"Eric? I’m not sure he will agree to such nonsense. He has no interest in marriage, or she saved our lives. We must repay her somehow." Lord Warris said to her.
"That’s why he should do his duty as our son and marry her, she’s a good girl to take an arrow for us. Even my own son wouldn’t." Lady Kim sounded stressed.
"You think she took the arrow so she could get herself out of being a maid?" Lord Warris asked lady Kim out of curiosity.
"It’s possible girls like her are incredibly desperate and would do anything to increase in rank." Lady Kim said haughtily.
"You are awake?" Lord Eric’s voice startled her.
"Oh yes." Her cheeks were hot from being caught.
"Does their conversation interest you so much?" he asked as he rolled his wheelchair towards her.
She sat up to look at him, he had an odd look in his eyes. "I know what you are." he said.
She shifted uncomfortably "You are a spy?" he said bluntly and she forced a laugh.
"I don’t know what your motive here is but it won’t work, many spies have come and died. You won’t be any different, you will lose." he said confidently and she smirked.
The door opened and Lord Warris stepped in with lady Kim "Thank goodness you are awake, we have thought about your reward." Lord Warris said.
Her eyes did not leave Eric as Lord Warris continued "I have decided you will marry my son Eric...as your reward."
Eric’s eyes widened in shock "I beg your pardon!"
She smirked, "I guess I will win."
Something crashed to the ground and they turned to see Mary, trembling with anger
"No father, I love Frida."
