Chapter 1812: Blind Eye Tower (Part 2)
Chapter 1812: Blind Eye Tower (Part 2)
Adam didn’t know where he was, only that it was in the far reaches of the Tarnished Lands, the Deep Ring.
His only clue was the Blind Eye Tower, which was clearly visible from the rocky plateau.
"Laroza, right?" Adam narrowed his eyes. "Tsk. Aiden, was it really that hard for you to give me even a basic description? How am I supposed to figure out who Laroza is?"
Shaking his head, Adam set off toward the Blind Eye Tower.
Step. Step. Step.
Step by step, he moved forward, unhurried. He needed to recover after such a long journey.
"Hmm?"
Suddenly, a slight vibration rippled across the ground from the cliff to the east.
Adam turned just in time to see a splash of gray water, followed by a large paw covered in dark scales.
Four sharp claws dug into the ground, then a second paw appeared. Only then was the heavy, lizard-like monster able to lift its massive body out of the water.
’Is there a river flowing beneath the cliff?’ Adam thought before shaking his head. ’Tsk, that doesn’t matter right now.’
Without hesitation, Adam turned around as his black needle appeared in his hand.
The lizard, seeing his fiery gaze, merely smirked. Its sharp fangs glinted as its green eyes narrowed.
Tap. Tap.
As soon as the lizard hit the ground, it crouched and raised its thick tail with a spiked ball at the end.
The spikes trembled as, in the next moment, a hail of spikes rained down on Adam.
His pupils contracted, but he didn’t step back or dodge. A split second was enough for him to realize he could block every single spike.
Clang. Clang. Clang.
Adam swung his arm, shattering or deflecting the dark spikes. The shards flew off and plunged into the ground, while others broke into smaller pieces.
At first, the lizard couldn’t believe it. It was certain that if it increased the number of spikes, it would definitely wound Adam, but it was useless.
"Come on, we both already know this won’t work against me." Adam’s gaze was calm, even with a hint of arrogance in his voice.
Well, he had defeated many far stronger monsters on his path, so that some random lizard couldn’t be a worthy opponent for him.
Soon, the lizard realized this too, which greatly angered the monster who had thought that easy prey had finally appeared in these barren lands.
"GRRROOOO!!!" The lizard roared before lunging at Adam.
Adam narrowed his eyes as he released his needle.
Instead of slicing the lizard in two, he decided to do something else.
"You asked for this."
Whooooosh!
Adam lunged forward, and in the next moment he was right in front of the lizard.
The lizard’s eyes widened. It hadn’t had time to follow Adam’s movements.
Clutch.
Adam clenched his fist tightly before slamming it into the lizard’s jaw.
The simple punch sent a shockwave through the monster’s body, causing cracks to run across its scales as many of them rained down onto the ground.
The impact, which traveled through the lizard’s entire body, sent the heavy monster flying backward dozens of meters.
The lizard flew far enough to fall off the rocky plateau, sending a spray of water high into the air.
For a moment, Adam stared ahead, expecting the lizard to return, but it didn’t.
"So that was enough for him to admit defeat? I expected more."
"He just didn’t want to die."
Suddenly, a strange voice rang out from above, sending shivers down Adam’s spine. He jerked his head up as his eyes widened.
High in the sky, amid the dark clouds, hovered a woman in leather garments resembling the attire of a hunter who had fashioned armor from the hides of dangerous monsters.
Her body was muscular. Her right arm was covered in tattoos of lines, and a long cape hung from her right shoulder, fluttering in the wind. Like everything else, this too was the hide of some monster, most likely a special one.
But all of that paled in comparison to her thick, surprisingly long crimson hair, which reached down to her ankles and hung in a single wave down one side of her head as if constantly swept by the wind.
Her face had sharp features that, combined with her green eyes, gave her a piercing, frightening gaze.
Adam didn’t need to ask questions or try to remember anything.
Just as Aiden had said, he realized in an instant who was standing before him.
Crack!
With a crash that shook the ground, the woman landed, and Adam was able to see her up close.
She was taller than him and clearly possessed far greater strength.
"You..." Adam paused for a moment. "You’re Laroza, aren’t you?"
She didn’t answer right away. Instead, she leaned in, staring intently at Adam.
"So you’re the boy Aiden was talking about? You know, he described you quite differently." Laroza rubbed her chin with a pensive look.
Adam’s eyebrow twitched. ’Huh? So he told her about me but decided not to tell me anything except her name?’
Then, Laroza straightened up and crossed her arms over her chest.
"Yes, I’m Laroza, one of the Renegades. Though, you must already know that since you came here." She glanced at the purple crystal. "You managed to make it from the Citadel all the way here without a single serious injury? Not bad, not bad at all."
Adam shrugged.
"If it were up to me, I’d have headed straight for the Gray Sea. But Aiden said I’d die."
"Hahahahaha!"
Suddenly, Laroza laughed, her powerful voice shaking the plateau.
"Yeah, that’s probably exactly what would have happened. I was puzzled when that bastard contacted me. Looks like you did something special to win his favor, didn’t you?" Laroza smirked, waiting for his answer.
Suddenly, Adam’s expression darkened.
"He practically killed me."
"Pffft!" Laroza waved her hand dismissively. "You’re not the first, and you won’t be the last, young man. Aiden has killed enough to cover the surface of the sea with corpses, leaving no water visible between them."
For a moment, Adam stared at Laroza as an unusual thought crossed his mind.
"Hey, Laroza."
"Yes?" She glanced at him.
"Were you ever Aiden’s woman?"
"Hahahahaha!"
Instantly, Laroza burst out laughing. She didn’t get angry at him.
"Huh, maybe Aiden likes strong women, but there’s one thing I’m sure of."
She sighed.
"His whole life, he’s been faithful to only one woman. Forever."
Adam’s eyes narrowed.
’Aiden? Faithful to only one woman?’
