Chapter 1722 Karo Attacks!
Chapter 1722 Karo Attacks!
Karo's eyes narrowed.
"Let us see how long that expression lasts."
The moment his voice fell, Karo disappeared.
He did not vanish like the earlier speed-based demon, who had relied on blurry afterimages and chaotic movement. Karo's movement was clean, silent, and almost ghost-like, as if his body had merged with the shadow beneath his feet.
In the next breath, he appeared directly behind Max, his right arm wrapped in dense black demonic energy that twisted into the shape of a clawed beast head. The attack carried a terrifying devouring force, and the instant it descended, the air behind Max collapsed inward as if the beast head wanted to swallow everything in its path.
"Demonic Abyss Claw."
Karo's claw struck Max's back.
Boom!
A violent explosion shook the arena, and the beast-shaped demonic energy bit down on Max's body with enough force to tear apart a mountain of steel.
This was one of the attacks Karo normally used against humans who managed to reach the tenth battle, and in the past, many proud human geniuses had been torn open by this one strike before they even realized he had appeared behind them. Some had lost their protective armor, some had lost half their bodies, and some had died instantly.
But this time, the result was different.
Max did not even turn around.
The Demonic Abyss Claw struck his dragon scales and erupted with terrifying force, but instead of piercing through his body, the beast-shaped energy shattered against his back like a wave crashing against an unshakable cliff.
Black sparks scattered in every direction, the ground beneath Max's feet cracked apart, and the shockwave swept forward like a storm, yet Max's body remained completely steady. Not even his shoulders moved.
Karo's pupils shrank slightly.
Max slowly turned his head and looked over his shoulder.
"Is this the first attack?"
Karo's expression darkened for the first time.
The demons outside the arena, who had been waiting to see Max's body torn apart, suddenly fell silent. They knew that attack. They had seen Karo use it before. They knew how many strong humans had died under it. Yet Max had taken it with his back and remained completely unharmed.
Karo pulled his hand back and retreated several steps, but the irritation in his eyes had grown stronger. He raised both arms, and the black demonic energy around him gathered above his head before rapidly condensing into nine rotating spears.
Each spear was covered in dark red runes, and their tips released a piercing aura that made the surrounding air scream. These spears did not rely on simple weight or force. They were made for penetration, and the demonic runes carved across them carried the power to drill through defenses by focusing their strength into a single point.
"Nine Hell Piercing Spears."
Karo waved his hand.
The nine demonic spears shot toward Max at the same time.
They did not fly in a straight path. Instead, they crossed each other in the air, shifted directions several times, and attacked Max from different angles with terrifying speed and precision.
One aimed for his forehead, one for his throat, two for his chest, two for his shoulders, one for his heart, and the remaining two curved toward his legs. The attack was extremely vicious, and each spear released enough piercing force to make even heavily armored participants feel their scalps turn numb.
Max finally raised his hand.
But he still did not use a technique.
He simply clenched his fist and punched forward.
Bang!
The first spear shattered.
His arm moved again.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The second, third, and fourth spears exploded into fragments of dark energy before they could touch him. Max's movements were not flashy, but they were terrifyingly precise. Every punch landed directly on the weakest point of a spear, and each impact destroyed the condensed demonic energy with nothing more than raw physical strength.
The remaining spears tried to change direction and strike from his blind spots, but Max's body shifted slightly, his left hand swept across the air, and three more spears were smashed apart as if they were nothing but fragile branches.
The final two spears reached his chest at the same time.
Max did not block them.
He allowed them to strike him directly.
Clang! Clang!
Two sharp metallic sounds echoed across the arena.
The demonic spears trembled violently, their sharp tips pressing against Max's black dragon scales, but they could not enter even half an inch. A moment later, cracks spread across their bodies, and both spears shattered into black smoke.
Max looked at Karo and smiled wider.
"Second attack."
Karo's face became colder.
This time, even the humans watching from outside the arena felt a strange thrill rise in their hearts. Max was not only blocking Karo's attacks. He was counting them. He was treating Karo's famous killing moves as if they were test strikes from a sparring partner, and that attitude made the demons feel humiliated while making the humans feel their blood heat with excitement.
Karo's killing intent finally sharpened.
"Fine," he said coldly. "Then try blocking this."
He raised one hand toward the sky, and the demonic energy around him suddenly changed. It no longer spread outward like smoke, and it no longer gathered into sharp weapons. Instead, it sank downward, pressing against the arena with a terrifying weight.
The space above Max darkened, and a huge demonic palm slowly condensed in the air, its surface covered with ancient-looking marks that seemed to carry the pressure of countless corpses buried beneath a battlefield.
The moment it appeared, the entire arena groaned under the weight, and even the barrier surrounding the battlefield rippled more violently than before.
"Burial Demon Palm."
Karo pushed his hand down.
The massive demonic palm descended toward Max.
This attack was completely different from the first two. The Demonic Abyss Claw was made to tear through the body, and the Nine Hell Piercing Spears were made to pierce through defenses, but the Burial Demon Palm relied on overwhelming suppression.
It crushed everything beneath it with pure demonic pressure, burying the opponent under a force so heavy that their bones, blood, and energy would collapse at the same time.
Against other humans who had reached the tenth battle, Karo usually used this attack to end everything, because once the palm descended, even those who survived were often left kneeling, broken, and unable to fight again.
The demonic palm fell.
