Chapter 559 Double Standards
Chapter 559 Double Standards
Su Yang shook Su Xiang's arm and said, "Brother, go ahead. Brother Chen is a very loyal man. Last time I fell down in the alley. If he hadn't been quick to catch me, I would have been lying in the garbage dump right now!"
Chen Yifan raised his hand to adjust his collar, then put his hands in his pockets, deliberately posing nonchalantly:
"If Master Su thinks this isn't high-end enough, a yacht dinner will do. My ship, the Drowned Light, just got a new French chef, and he's an expert at making Beef Wellington."
The ending of this sentence unconsciously carried a hint of boasting, and after saying it, he felt like a peacock spreading its tail, and immediately added, "Well! Of course, it's up to you whether to go or not. I just... I just don't want to owe anyone a favor."
Su Xiang raised his hand and rubbed Su Yang's messy hair: "Okay, I'll listen to you, brother!"
Seeing this, Chen Yifan turned around and invited Gu Yuande who was standing beside him: "Second Master, let's go and have some fun together. You must have never tasted the hotel's signature dish!"
Gu Yuande smiled and waved his hands: "No, no, my old bones can't keep up with the pace of you young people. Just have fun."
Chen Yifan nodded when he heard that. His Adam's apple rolled uncomfortably and he walked in an awkward manner. His usual domineering aura was gone and even the movement of opening the car door was three times stiffer than usual.
When Su Xiang sat in the passenger seat, he wanted to help someone close the door, but because he was too nervous, he used too much force, causing a dull bang, which scared the person.
"Master Su, fasten your seat belt." He looked ahead awkwardly, his tone hard, as if he was giving an order, "I... well, this broken car has very sensitive brakes, don't get carsick later."
When he finished speaking and quickly walked around to the driver's seat, he heard Su Yang muttering in the car: "Brother Chen looks like he was struck by lightning today. His hands and feet are not working properly."
Along the way, Chen Yifan drove the car attentively, but the atmosphere in the car was inexplicably tense. Su Yang was unaware of this, chattering about the delicious food he had recently discovered, and poking Su Xiang from time to time to share those funny details.
Arriving at the restaurant, the waiter came over attentively to open the car door. After Chen Yifan got out of the car, he raised his hand to block the door, fearing that Su Xiang would hit his head when he stood up. Realizing that his action was too deliberate, he quickly withdrew his hand, pretended to adjust his cuffs, cleared his throat and said, "Master Su, please."
After entering the private room, Chen Yifan pushed the menu to Su Xiang, saying in a nonchalant tone, "Master Su, take a look at what you want to eat. The signature dishes of this restaurant are all OK."
Su Xiang took the menu and flipped through it casually, saying softly, "Don't be too troublesome, just keep it simple."
Chen Yifan frowned upon hearing this, "Since you're here, don't be polite." He stretched out his hand and ordered a few of the most expensive dishes, then turned to look at Su Yang, "Don't you want to eat lobster and caviar? Order!"
During the interval between servings, Chen Yifan stared at the reflection of the silverware on the turntable and caught a glimpse of Su Xiang peeling a lobster with his eyes downcast. The way his knuckles held the silver tongs was so dignified that even the sauce that splashed onto his fingertips looked like cinnabar that was deliberately embellished.
He suddenly said, "Master Su, this French baked lobster is good, but the shell is too hard. You have to use a hammer to crack it open. It's like the Second Hall Master's head, very hard."
After saying this, he wanted to bite off his tongue. What a bullshit metaphor!
Su Xiang was drinking from a cup and almost choked when he heard this. A barely perceptible smile appeared on the corner of his mouth: "You are quite humorous. No wonder you can chat with me so well. I like it too."
These words were like throwing fire into a soda bucket. Chen Yifan's heart skipped a beat. He quickly lowered his head and took a big gulp of ice water, but he was so cold that he grimaced.
Su Yang was stunned as he watched from the side: "Brother Chen, what happened to you today? Are you possessed?"
Chen Yifan glared at him and continued to make small talk: "Master Su, if you run into trouble in the future, just let me know. The brothers in Niguangtang are not vegetarians. If anyone dares to touch you, I will make sure he comes in vertically and leaves horizontally. By the way, I heard that your school is about to start. If you think the area around the school is noisy, I will arrange for someone to clean it up tomorrow."
"Thank you for your concern." Su Xiang's voice was wrapped in the coolness of iced oolong tea. "But I can handle school matters myself."
"How can that be possible! No matter how good Master Su is, two fists cannot defeat four hands. I have a fighting coach under me, a former Muay Thai champion. I will have him work as a security guard at the school tomorrow. Of course, if Master Su doesn't like it, just pretend I didn't say anything."
Su Xiang wiped the corners of Su Yang's mouth and added another spoonful of shark fin soup to his bowl: "But the public security there really needs to be improved. I heard that there are often hooligans outside the school harassing students."
Chen Yifan instantly perked up, leaning forward with his elbows on the table: "Since Master Su thinks it's time to punish him, then it's easy to handle. So, from now on, I'll pick you up and drop you off at school."
When he said this, he deliberately made his tone sound like he was arranging matters for the gang, with a bit of unquestionable toughness. But he secretly glanced at Su Xiang, and when he saw that the other party did not refuse immediately, he was inexplicably relieved, and couldn't help but add: "You have seen my driving skills. In terms of safety, it is more reliable than professional bodyguards."
Su Yang stuffed his mouth with lobster meat and yelled incoherently: "What about me, Brother Chen? My brother and I go to the same school."
Without even raising his eyelids, Chen Yifan casually picked up a piece of chilled abalone and threw it into Su Yang's bowl: "Run behind the car, and if you can beat it, I'll give you a bite of its exhaust gas."
After dinner, the three of them went home.
In the parking lot, Chen Yifan opened the passenger door. Just as Su Yang was about to squeeze into the seat, he grabbed the back of his collar and whispered in his ear, "Get out of the way, kid."
While waiting for the red light on the road, Chen Yifan caught a glimpse of Su Xiang staring out the window in a daze, and asked tentatively: "Master Su, are you familiar with this place?"
Su Xiang retracted his gaze and raised his chin slightly to indicate: "Come occasionally."
The moment the red light turned green, Chen Yifan stepped on the accelerator and the car shot out like an arrow, startling Su Yang so much that he fell down in the back seat with a cry of "Ouch".
"This area is under the jurisdiction of the Niguang Hall." Chen Yifan put one hand on the car window, "We just dealt with a few blind thugs last month. If Young Master Su comes in the future, give him a heads up in advance. I guarantee that even a stray dog on the street won't dare to bark at you."
"No need to trouble you." Su Xiangwang leaned back in his chair and closed his eyes to take a nap.
"Is the school far from here?"
Su Yang in the back seat was about to interrupt, but Chen Yifan glared back at him through the rearview mirror, so he had no choice but to lower his head and play with his phone.
"Yeah." Su Xiang responded briefly, his eyelashes still drooping. Chen Yifan suddenly became irritable, turning the steering wheel violently, and the tires made a harsh sound when rubbing against the ground.
Passing by a newly opened bar, the neon lights cast mottled shadows on Su Xiang's face. He once again made an awkward conversation: "The owner of this bar owes me a favor. Master Su, if you want to play, just ask anytime. You can choose any private room."
Su Xiang finally opened his eyes: "Thank you, but I don't go to these places often."
Chen Yifan loosened his tie and muttered, "Young people nowadays love to stay at home." He regretted the words as soon as they came out of his mouth. His tone sounded like he was preaching, "But Master Su is busy studying, there is really no need for him to hang out with those hooligans."
Su Yang suddenly laughed out loud in the back seat, and was knocked against the backrest by Chen Yifan's sudden brake. "What are you laughing at?"
"Brother Chen, your driving is more exciting than a roller coaster."
Chen Yifan didn't respond, but silently slowed down the car, but suddenly braked when passing a convenience store. "Wait a minute." He pushed the door and got out of the car. When he came back, he threw a bottle of Coke to Su Yang and handed it to the passenger seat: "Master Su, yogurt."
Su Xiang stared at the plain yogurt in his hand for half a second before reaching out to take it. There were still water droplets on the plastic bottle, obviously it had just been taken out of the freezer.
Chen Yifan sat back in the driver's seat, his fingers tapping on the steering wheel, but his eyes kept glancing at the passenger seat: "This brand of yogurt is okay, it doesn't have those messy additives, and it's not much different from the imported ones you usually drink."
Su Xiang held the cold yogurt bottle and said "hmm" lightly.
Chen Yifan brought up something else: "The owner of the sugar painting stall at the intersection ahead has amazing skills and can draw the twelve zodiac animals. If you like them, I'll buy one for you next time I pass by?"
"Need not."
Chen Yifan continued to chat shamelessly: "That's right, Master Su, with his status, probably wouldn't look down on street gadgets. But it's not bad to try something new once in a while, just like you play with those bonsai, they are all handicrafts."
Su Xiang didn't respond, but just chuckled softly, and it was hard to tell whether he found it funny or was just being perfunctory.
