Chapter 305 Return
Chapter 305 Return
The steam from the hot spring was rising, and the chou chou fish happily swam around Jiuji's fingers, the waves stirred by its tail fin creating ripples on the emerald pool surface. Jiuji was about to bend over to tease it, but suddenly he noticed a burst of hurried footsteps behind him - or rather, claw footsteps.
"Lu! Lulu--!" The leading Land Shark rushed in from the depths of the cave, its claws almost overturning the incubator by the pool. It anxiously pointed with its tail fin to the other side of the hot spring, where the round land shark eggs were originally placed, but now there was nothing.
Where's the egg?! Jiuji's heart tightened, and he subconsciously reached for the Poké Ball on his waist.
"Don't panic, it's over there." Grandma Qiu's voice came slowly. She pointed behind her and saw another Land Shark with its arms crossed in front of its chest, its dorsal fin slapping the rock wall impatiently, splashing a string of sparks.
In front of it was the dragon egg.
"Meow?" The ugly fish poked its head out curiously, but was gently pushed back into the water by Jiuji.
It looks like a household chore. I wonder if it’s too late to leave now.
"This little guy is so noisy." Grandma Qiu ignored the Land Shark that was on the verge of a rage, picked up the egg and handed it to Jiuji with a smile, "As soon as you left, the eggshell cracked. Xiao Lu and I took turns to persuade it not to break the shell early."
She glanced at the silent Lu Shark mother and added meaningfully, "Little Lu is just hard on the outside but soft on the inside. In fact, I knew that the child wanted to follow you."
Xiao Lu immediately blew out a stream of hot air from his nose, turned his head and used his sharp claws to "snap" a stalactite, and the broken stones slammed into the pool water, startling the chou chou fish to "whoosh" into the bottom of the pool. Seeing this, Xiao Lu smiled and scratched his head, stretched out his claws to pat his wife's dorsal fin, but was swept away by a tail.
"Road!" I don't care!
Xiao Lu raised his chin and made a low gurgling sound in his throat, but his tail honestly curled up a white dragon tooth and awkwardly stuffed it into Jiuji's hand.
[Dragon's Fang, a hard and sharp tooth. When you carry it, the power of dragon-attribute moves will increase.]
"This child has chosen you." Grandma Qiu narrowed her eyes, and a sly smile appeared on her wrinkled face. "Parents can never win over their children, not to mention..." She deliberately dragged out the tone and tapped Xiao Lu's tail with her cane. "Some dragons, didn't they also follow their trainers out of the cave?"
"Roar!" Xiao Lu's scales exploded instantly, and his dorsal fin "swish" stood up like a mountain of knives. Xiao Lu nodded frantically, but was frightened by his wife's glare and shrank into a ball.
Jiuji held back her smile as she took the dragon egg. The warm eggshell trembled gently in her palm, as if responding to her heartbeat. She looked up at Garchomp and said solemnly, "I will take good care of it, just like my own friend."
Although she didn't know why the Roundland Shark chose her, she didn't want to and wouldn't refuse the Pokémon's preference.
Xiao Lu was silent for a moment, then suddenly leaned forward and approached Jiuji. His fangs stopped a few inches from Jiuji's forehead, his breath blew up her bangs, and complex emotions surged in his golden eyes. Just when Jiuji thought that the other party was going to regret it, Liebite Lu Shark's sharp claws gently touched the dragon tooth pendant on her neck, and a series of low hums rolled out of his throat.
"It said..." Dai Dai translated at the right time, "If the round land shark loses a scale, it will dismantle our spaceship."
"Pfft!" Jiuji almost laughed out loud, his tsundereness has faded. Xiaolu quickly pushed Xiaolu aside, his honest face full of "The kid's mother has a bad temper, please bear with her."
Grandma Qiu tried to smooth things over at the right time: "Alright, alright, let's go. If you keep dawdling, I'm afraid these kids will start quarreling again."
Jiuji carefully placed the dragon egg into the constant temperature incubator and said goodbye to Lieyao Lusha and Grandma Qiu.
"Then let's go!" Jiuji stepped onto the gangway of the spaceship and waved towards the cave. "When the round land shark hatches, I'll bring it back to see you!"
Xiao Lu snorted coldly, flicked his tail and went back into the cave, while Xiao Lu waved his paw and grinned foolishly. The tip of his tail quietly hooked around his wife's, and after being slapped away by a paw, he still followed happily behind.
The engine of the spacecraft drew a silver arc in the clouds. Jiuji sat cross-legged in the cabin with the constant temperature incubator on his knees. The little fellow seemed to sense that he was getting farther and farther away from his parents, and his egg body began to shake restlessly from side to side, making the glass of the incubator "bang bang".
"It's not a big deal to come out now." Jiuji said, half comforting and half provoking, "I heard that the newborn dragons in the Dragon Cave are all full-term. You don't have even this little bit of self-control, do you?"
This stubborn temper must have been inherited from that tsundere Land Shark. Tsunderes are most susceptible to provocation.
"Crack!" The eggshell suddenly stopped vibrating, and the bulge on the surface calmed down at a speed visible to the naked eye. The indigo light turned into a soft pulsation, like a tide that had been paused. Gengar, lying on the console, silently retracted his shadow. It thought it was a little thorn, and there was no fun to watch.
Jiuji placed his palm on the surface of the incubator and said seriously, "When you meet your parents, show them what it means to hatch perfectly."
The dragon egg suddenly moved, and the dragon scale patterns on the eggshell turned golden, as if they were competing silently.
After making sure that the little guy wouldn't cause any more trouble, Daidai withdrew the mental power that was reinforcing the eggshell and raised the thermostat by another 0.5 degrees.
Pichu curled up on the armrest of the seat and uttered a weak "Pichu...", with its ears drooping against its head. Every time the spacecraft was bumpy, it always felt a little uncomfortable, and it didn't know when the magnetic force would be completely under control.
The chou chou fish in the makeshift water tank also felt uneasy. Its tail fin slapped the water surface nervously, and it felt like the container was always shaking.
Jiuji had no choice but to comfort them one by one. She had never expected that every time she went out she would have to raise one more baby.
"The only one?" Togepi jumped down from the control console on tiptoe, the eggshell pattern flashing with his steps.
It looked at the curled-up Pichu, then at the anxiously wagging tail of the Chou Chou fish in the water tank, and finally fixed its attention on the glowing dragon egg on Jiuji's knees. The three thorn-like protrusions on the top of its head suddenly "snapped" and stood up, like some kind of silent oath.
"Do you need help?" Jiuji caught a glimpse of Togepi trying to climb onto Pichu's seat and was about to ask Daidai for help.
Togepi didn't respond. He was almost thrown away by the bump when he grabbed the back of the chair with his short hands, but he stubbornly crawled to Pichu and used his round body to support his friend's weak body.
"Chu..." Pichu's fur stood on end at the sudden chill. He turned around and found it was Togepi. He rubbed his cheek into the depression of its eggshell in grievance.
The spike-like protrusions on Togepi's head glow softly, and when he waves his fingers, a sweet breeze blows - it's aromatherapy!
How could this be a random trick? Jiuji raised his eyebrows in surprise, but Pichu's ears were already standing up. The clown fish seemed to be attracted by the fragrance and looked over here along the wall of the water tank.
