Chapter 168 Happy Memories
Chapter 168 Happy Memories
The cold moonlight shone through the window pane and passed through the floating metal balls and fell to the ground.
Harry opened his eyes. The sudden light stimulated his eyes. Tears filled his eyes. Harry unconsciously raised his hand to block the light.
"Harry, are you okay?" Afro squatted beside him with a frown, her eyes full of worry, and touched his forehead lightly with her cold knuckles.
"It's okay, what happened?"
Harry stood up from the ground with the help of the girl and Lupin. His limbs were still a little weak and his mind was dizzy and unclear.
"Did I faint again?"
"It's okay. It's normal to fail the first time." Lupin took out a piece of chocolate from his coat pocket and handed it to Harry.
"Take a deep breath and eat some chocolate, you'll feel better."
Harry sat on a step while biting the chocolate, lowered his head and began to mutter to himself, "I can be sure it's him, Voldemort..."
Lupin was extremely worried and he relit the candle that the Boggart had extinguished.
The warm yellow light instantly illuminated the entire office.
"Harry, I would understand if you gave up."
"No! I can't! I want to do it!" He stuffed the remaining chocolate into his mouth. Although his words were not clear, he was extremely firm.
Afro quickly supported Harry's staggering body, her pretty eyebrows twisted into a ball. Seeing him like this, she felt like a stone was pressing on her heart, and her chest was stuffy.
"Harry, can you rest for a while and let me try?"
Afro pulled Harry to the stairs and spoke to him in a low voice.
Harry glanced at Lupin, who showed no sign of hiding his worry, and nodded slowly to Afro, his pale face revealing an expression of fondness.
Afro smiled with curved eyes, cute and clear.
"Excuse me, Professor Lupin."
Lupin's smiling eyes moved between the two of them, causing Harry to clench his fists and fake cough in embarrassment.
When he saw Harry's reaction, he grinned in amusement. Soon, Lupin changed his expression, walked back to the wooden box, and said to Afro seriously, "Are you ready?"
Afro, who was ready for battle, took out his wand and raised it in the air, staring straight ahead.
Harry held his breath, his fingers unconsciously clenching the corner of his clothes. He stood up subconsciously, and the saliva he swallowed unconsciously could not save his dry throat.
His heart was pounding in his ears, and he was even more nervous than when he was practicing.
The silent room was filled with a tense atmosphere, and even Lupin's heart was tense.
Under Harry's gaze, the Boggart turned into a Dementor. A cold breath attacked Afro. She calmed herself and clenched the wand in her hand.
She didn't know which memory to choose, and many scenes flashed through her mind -
The smiles of the Campbells, the first encounter with Draco, sweating profusely on the court with Wood, the first prank with the twins, Harry's emerald eyes...
Memories flashed through my mind like movie clips, and the corners of my mouth slowly rose as I recalled these memories.
"Call the gods to protect you!"
Afro's wand made a hissing sound, like the sound of a kettle before it boils, and a wisp of silver gas poured out from the top of the wand.
The silver mist slowly floated upwards like a kite string, and an ethereal silver shield appeared between the girl and the Dementor, but disappeared in a flash.
A candlelight shone on the air mass, like sunlight penetrating morning mist, causing it to dissipate without a trace.
"Well done, Campbell!"
Lupin quickly locked the Boggart into the box. He laughed twice and walked up to Afro to applaud her.
Afro leaned weakly on Harry and tried hard to smile.
"No no--"
"Can you tell me which memory you chose?"
Afro glanced at Harry subconsciously and looked away before he looked back.
“Memories with friends.”
Lupin, who had witnessed the whole process, smiled knowingly and said, "That's a good memory, Harry. Try again."
Harry first helped Afro sit aside and stuffed a piece of chocolate in her hand.
He had just found it in the pocket of Lupin's coat, which was hanging on a hanger.
Harry tried many times and he recalled many happy memories for him.
The day I met Avro, won my first Quidditch match, and received the letter from Hogwarts...
But none of these helped him successfully summon the Patronus.
"Aphrodite, what were you thinking about when you cast the spell?"
Harry and Afro, who were forced to take a break, sat in an empty classroom. Sweat flowed down their jawlines into their collars, and the wet clothes stuck to their bodies, making them uncomfortable.
Afro stared into his eyes, her thoughts drifting back to the moment when she cast the spell. She thought about how happy she was every day after they met, a happiness she had never experienced before, and more than just happiness...
And there was a feeling she had never felt before, a feeling that sounded ridiculous.
She seems to be...
Thinking of this, Afro turned his head hurriedly and his eyes fell on the night sky outside the window.
"It's about you."
Harry's face suddenly turned red, his hands crossed together in confusion, and he was completely stunned.
It is undeniable that when Harry heard the girl say this, his heart felt like it was electrified and numb.
But he thought so too, so why didn’t he succeed?
"Don't worry, Harry. Happy memories don't necessarily have to have happened in the past. You can try to imagine a future that will make you happy."
Afro's suggestion was like an epiphany to Harry. An idea suddenly popped up in his mind and he couldn't wait to try it out.
"Start?"
Lupin looked at the two people who returned again, opened the lid of the box for the third time, and the Boggart that turned into a Dementor slowly rose up.
The room was suddenly filled with coldness and darkness. Afro, who was standing aside, clenched his hands nervously.
Lupin stared at Harry, ready to rush forward to help him at any moment.
The screams once again flooded his mind, the sound intermittent like an old radio with poor reception.
Harry tried hard to concentrate and imagine the scene just now.
The Potters leaned against each other intimately, looking at him with smiles in their eyes, and he was holding the hand of his beloved, Aphrodite.
Suddenly a huge silver shield burst from the tip of Harry's wand and hovered between him and the Dementor.
"Well done, Harry!" Lupin leaped forward and shouted a spell, and the Dementors disappeared along with Harry's smoke version of the Patronus.
Harry fell backwards into a chair, too tired to lift a finger, his legs trembling.
"That's a good start. Let's continue practicing next week, okay?"
After Harry had rested, they left the office together.
As they passed through the auditorium foyer, they met a boy holding a vintage snake-patterned cane.
When he saw Harry, he even showed off the emerald green gemstone inlaid on his cane to him.
